Unless you were there it is hard to understand how good and how different Gish and Siamese Dream were. Yes, Billy Corgan is a genius. But Jimmy Chamberlain is a savant on drums and Butch Vig made it sound amazing.

The "Siamese Dream" album by the smashing pumpkins, which "Disarm" is on, is top 15 of all time in any genre! Imo, of course. "Disarm" & "Tonight, tonight" are great songs/singles, but not really representative of the Pumpkins very distinct signature sound, aside from Corgans quirky voice. 😅 Fuzzy & busy guitars + Intricate jazzy drums. Dreamy soundscapes that are also heavy! They definitely stand out from the rest of the 90s heavy rock crowd!

This song is about him being sexually abused by step mother who would insert things into him. What's a young boy supposed to do. He would always try to DISARM her with a smile. Cut that little boy. It burns. With this story from him, listen to the song again. "Hedlok"
