Just being in 5/4 would make this part at least a little difficult for many guitarists, even some great ones. On top of that where you might naturally feel the 1 also feels like an offbeat. Videotape and little by little have similar rhythmic offbeat illusions like this. I'm not disagreeing with you it's simple on a level, but a riff like paint it black by the rolling strings is sort of similar in its concept but is much more completely simple.

@@contactkeithstack Yeah I guess they’re very not simple rhythmically. I definitely had trouble getting thin thing down! I was mostly referring to the barebones feel and tone of the guitar parts compared to something like ok computer which is more dynamic. I just think this tone and style is pure gold

Yeah agreed - can live without Bodies Laughing and (controversially?) Eyes and Mouth but this sounds basically fully formed and this video was a while ago now, so they had time to polish it up. Some theories: maybe something for LP3? 🙂 Something Radiohead could use? Perhaps Thom wasn’t happy with the lyrics (only component arguably a bit lacking, although what’s there is delivered really well) and couldn’t fix them up. Or maybe it stuck out a bit on the album so they parked it.

It's Radiohead peeps... since when did they ever know which material they should use? :P It'll probably turn up on Side Project 5's 3rd album in 20 years time... deconstructed to f£$% of course.

Totally agree, I liked it very much when they performed it in Madrid with Robert Stillman. The song blew my mind, like the rest of the show.
