It's not like the story's incomplete tho, basically a fungus from the meteor that killed the dinos was discovered and sold on the Black Market as a drug, it gets out of control as the fungus spreads disease, chaos & carnage throughout the U.S., and then at the end aliens come in and cleanse the earth of the Smile Fungus, and society heals from the incident. Pretty solid story, if you ask me

The thing that the face appears in is probably a window, it feels like someone was recording the window because of the riots and violence outside, they were probably a story or two up, also probably why it ends, the recorder got killed.

I think the man is probably the spores' twisted version of a human. Maybe the first human it infected thought of a man that looked similar to the man, and the spores retained that information, but it got slightly less clear as generations of the spores went by. The face eventually got so corrupted that it looked like the one in the tapes.

A fungus is a microbe btw. All of the terms used thus far to describe the fungus in the smile tapes so far in these reactions have been correct. I hope matt and ash see this so they don't keep accidentally misrepresenting what a fungus is or is not.
Okay not sure if you are working on a new theory already but if you're not I have an idea. A youtube short film I have loved at keep rewatching it, it's called I am a pebble. The short film is about a river otter named bubble. Bubble befriends three rock and acts like there alive. Soon into the short film Bubble sees more and more how her rock "family" is not alive. I have a slight feeling that how they put the senses of one of the "otters(the smallest rock) is sinking into the river but Bubble sees it as an otter not know how to swim or drowning the tiny otter/rock gives a little wave to Bubble before we go back to seeing the small rock. So that leaves me with the question.... What happened to Bubble family or group. I personally think that seeing that part of the film makes me think that something happened that otter due to drowning most likely and Bubble most likely saw it but couldn't save them because she was young herself. I love otters and I have been researching about them for years now and I know that otters normally wouldn't be alone like Bubble is in the short film. So I'm thinking a few things right now.... Is Bubble dead? Did something tragic happen to Bubble's pod? Did the baby otter really drown? Was that Bubble? Or did Bubble do something to the pod? OR did Bubble drown that otter and regrets it but the pod couldn't forgive her for killing her own kind. Please try and make a theory about this, I have been posting on almost every recent film theory I could find but never got even an answer. Yeah this is for Film Theory. This is a very impressive project and I do feel the creator should be pleased with what they did. I also think it is incredibly funny that the solution, seemingly to the entire threat, was fire.
Little tip, there is actually a jurassic-park-themed analog horror series that you could watch if you havent done so before. I cant remember its name right now but it was a great watch and very entertaining so i cant do anything but praise and recommend it and thank you for this entertaining video.

I REALLY want Matpat to cover Greylock. It's another analog horror series that I think is SUPER well doneand it terrifys me even more than the smile tapes. Wendigoon covered it a while ago and I think Lee would really like to cover it on Film Theory because it's main focus is about thoughtforms, just like in Guby, but delves SO MUCH deeper.

The interview that was hard to hear was of the woman in the morgue that got contaminated, but with the "benign variant". When he asked why she wasn't sticking to protocol, she said "I wasn't in my right mind at the time." When he asked her to elaborate, she said "Um, I was in grief. I still am. I couldn't cope with that at the time, I couldn't focus. I could've... (I can't understand this part, but it kinda sounds like "...mentioned that at work that day" or "...a month ago", or something similar). But I had a son to raise, and without his father it's so much harder to do. Now I'm here, stuck in a laboratory." He said he's sorry for her loss (of her son's father, I presume), and offered to send her son in to talk to her since she's been quarantined away from him, and she said "Please do." I guess he doesn't mean in the same room, but through the door.

The code from the previous video is in hex ASCII. "53 4D 49 4C 45" translates to "SMILE". In the broadcast (second video), the person is saying numbers out loud that sounded like some kind of cipher (A = 1, B = 2, etc.), although I couldn't clearly hear everything. After listening to the audio a few times, here are the numbers I got: 2 18 26 15 19 26 9 20 15 18 8 25 4 8 19 4 After trying to translate it through the most known ciphers, I found nothing but some gibberish, and tbh, I don't really have the patience to keep looking for more ways to decode it. If anyone manages to figure it out, please reply to this comment, I'd be happy to see what it means. Lastly, there's some sort of really quick morse code towards the end of the third video that I couldn't catch. Hope I was of any help!
