The Smile just released their new track "You Will Never Work In Television Again". This is a cool post-punk sort of song from Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Co. Hope you enjoy my cover and have fun playing along!
Very simple angular chording just rocking a C with some variety! Thom doesn't get enough credit for his guitar playing. He very much is radiohead's third guitarist. All three come at it differently. It's cool to see when anyone of them take the "lead" so to speak.
At first I thought that I could play this in standard tuning. But when I first heard this song, I immediately thought of Sonic Youth and that made it clear to me that Thom was playing in an alternate tuning of some kind. Channeling his inner Thurston Moore/Lee Ronaldo. Now I just have to pick apart the song's chord structure and play with the up's and downs of each tone of the strings. I'm seeing a lot of mixed perspectives about Thom playing in drop D and open C tuning so I don't know which is which. This is really one where tabs can't do justice haha. But that just encourages me to follow my inner ear instead.
the chord thom plays is all D notes with an A on the open string (it's a weird kinda drop-C tuning). in standard tuning, 10-12-12-x-x-10 actually hits all the same pitches.
I'm seeing mixed things about the tuning, I know you're playing in standard and it sounds ALMOST right but I saw someone else play it in drop C or something like that and it sounds close too so I'm not entirely sure which is actually right
I didn't realize people always put the number of strums in the tab, I thought they just put it a bunch of times and you had to figure it out, that's how I've been doing it these past 10 years lmao
What's the tuning on this one? It really sounds like Radiohead!!! I want a new Radiohead album released soon and I want Radiohead to perform in my home town of Magee,Mississippi
