riggerrogger101 the ride was actually stopped on the chain lift. but without thought they just bypassed the safety mechanism and started it back up to its doomed crash.
Am i the only one that like jumped and covered my mouth in shock at the first bit where it shows the crash from behind the gate, i rewinded it like 4 times to watch it again
I watched the crash and that must have been absolutely terrifying for the riders, especially at that speed... And just watching the POV made me feel sick...
The POV is horrifying. Souly due to the fact I watched it in normal playback, 0.5 playback time. There was no possible way they could've seen that empty carriage before looping into it. All those people were entirely blindsided...
at first I found it hard to believe somebody lost a leg to the accident but then you think about the fact that these things weigh just about as much as a car does add that to the fact that they're loaded with nearly 16 people at once they also don't have crumple zones like a car that and the valleyed train was completely stationary as the full one rammed into it the impact forces would've been massive then you look at the pov and you have no time to react to the collision since you can't even see the train until you're 50 feet away and speeding toward it this is an absolute nightmare of an accident and I feel horrible that this happened all because of a miscommunication and ignorance of basic safety
Actually the computer stopped it. It was telling the operator there was a coster there. But they thought it was a phantom cart. So they pressed a button to let it go.
Yes it was still for further topic if you look at this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yVvVI9PLoOc.html ⚠️Also warning if u don’t want to see what actually happened don’t watch please⚠️
@@soothingsword7660 they’re on about the empty carriage, not the train with the people in, which was stopped at the top of Lift 1 by the computer system. The empty train was completely stationary before impact
No one was told that there was a 5th car on track so when it stopped the computer knew it was there the the engineer didn’t so when the 4th car was stopped at the lift hill the engineer thought it was a malfunction so he let the car go, once it went down the drop there was no going back. Gravity was in control.
yeah but the person operating the ride saw it on his computer but just overrode it so it started again and well it hit it was so sad I begged my mum not to go on it today but no I was almost In tears as I saw her on it worrying
@@chaolencedraendow3662 it was always one of the safest rides I'm pretty sure it had the most advanced safety mechanism and the crash was due to human error
Why on earth would you recreate something has horrible as this. Its not even accurate. For starters they were on the top of the lift hill for 15mins. Horrific.
And here folks, this is why you check the next block before overriding a safety warning that indicates there is a train in the next block the next train is trying to claim..
Well if you all want to argue about it fine but I really don't think arguing over such a tragic thing is very rude and disrespectful. And yes a girl named Leah/ Lia had her leg amputated as her knees were crushed plus 7 others were taken to hospital.
2HOTGAMING ik I'm bloody creeped!! When we went to Alton towers like the 6-7 times we went that music is flipping creepy btw we had merlin annual passes
Ah i see thanks mate ill have to look into buying that. RCT3 is less complicated but its graphics and physics seem real close like the way the cars come together its just a sudden stop just like RCT3
pringle100 Pringle I'm using logic. I've ridden Vortex at Kings Island and that one bangs me around harder than the Smiler ever would. Do I care? No. Just because you get a little banged up in the head doesn't mean anything. I continue to ride Vortex to this day. And I'd ride the Smiler over and over again. No matter how rough it is. Oh by the way, nice comeback. Really orignal.
My big sister was in the line for it when the crash happened, she saw everything :c So glad she wasn't on the ride, wish she hadn't seen what she saw though :((((((( My heart rleally goes out to the victims and their families :cccccc
I understand what you mean. However, the uploader of this video is just recreating it in a game to show people what happened, just like people recreating other events like 9/11 on Flight Simulators.
The music of this was really unnecessary. It’s not a pleasant sound at all, and I doubt that you were wanting to go with a ear splitting sound effects. Now the recreation however was pretty brilliant! I advise trying to redo the thing over however when you get the computer boxes things. Otherwise fine job.
To all people who have responded to this. I have to say that this was down to human error. 1 the engineer who said to carry on and 2 the one who let it carry on. I've been on it 5 times in 2 days and it is the best ride at alton towers. Safer than ever now. It was a horrible event in alton towers history but measures have been taken to make sure it doesn't happen again. Not only do I feel sorry for Leah etc but also the one who let it carry on. They will never forget what happened and it's all because of human error
@@GamerBoss-fn2mo so basically the operators wanted to add another cart onto the track because there was so many people at the park and they have to cycle it around the track empty once to check its safe but forgot to weight it with water dummies so it failed to make one of the loops and vallied due to high winds so sat in the bottom of one of the loops. because of the position of it, the operators couldnt see it from the security cameras. when the next cart full of people got to the top of one of first lifthill it triggered a failsafe stop because it doesnt let 2 carts be on the same section of track at the same time. because the operators couldnt see the extra cart on the track, they overrided the failsafe stop so they crashed. i would say that 70% of the fault is on the operators for overriding the failsafe and 30% is on alton towers itself for failing to take the ride down for high winds
why would that be a brake run? a brake run is always higher than the rest of the coaster to finish. if the train stopped, it obviously couldn't continue the section those are trim brakes, meant to slow down the train. almost every b&m coaster has them. also, you can't stop at that brake at that velocity. the G force would kill you.
@@GamerBoss-fn2mo I doubt that G Force would kill you. None of the passengers died from impact when their train hit the stationary one. You might pass out for a minute, but it wouldn't kill you.
Theese are trims unfortunately- Not brake runs.. But if the operator were to realise the 5'th train after overriding the lift somehow, they could manually power up the trims more than usual to at least make the train have a chance of walleying before going through the dive loop..
It was the same speed or faster because i saw the accident when i went with my gramma mum and sister it was going at least 50mph luckily we were just watching because me and my sister were to short but the engineers where there and other rescuers it was really scary
