So of course, right as I release a video HiRez decide to change half the CC mechanics in the game... As of patch 9.7 (Mid-Season) - DR stacks are now 20% but stack 4 times (compared to 40% but stack 2 times) - 'Animtation-based CCs' are now 'True Hard CCs'. Still not affected by DR, but apply 2 stacks of it instead of 1. - Roots are now Hard CCs (But not 'true hard CCs') - Abilities with 2 Hard CCs can apply multiple DR stacks at once (Eg Anhur's 2 applies knockback, then stun for a total of 3 stacks of DR) - DR stacks are now a visible debuff on your bar (previously were not)
@@emef2739 wouldn't you want flat before %? Because a flat pen early game when their prots are lower then percentage later when the percentage scales up?
@@emef2739 In the video I'm talking about the order they apply when used in game, not the order you're meant to buy them in. To your point; Yes, building flat pen early in the game then % pen later is the way to go. But the order of application for them is % first then flat.
Wards should be in marinara trench. They are a consumable item you can buy that gives you vision of the enemy when they walk over them, not sure how many people know they exist.
The only mechanic that I did not know for sure is the support bonus, I had noticed that I leveled a bit faster than ai thought I should when splitting lane as support, but I chalked it up to: “we farming good”
My favorite mechanic, Oni hunter's when used by Persephone post rework, is the only (I'm aware of) aura item that works while she's dead and can make you a bootleg ward
It's only been playing Smite for about a year and I knew every fact up to the Mariana trench, that's probably a good thing since it means the game isn't very secretive about its mechanics, it makes the game very open to newer players
Correction: The %pen cap for both physical and magical damage applies for item stats only, passive effects can bypass the cap: Scyla 2 max rank +25% , dominance passive +15%, izanami passive, girdle +10% pen, titan's bane, obsidian shard, wind demon etc...
so i knew about support bonus and the old method of mitigating executes. I also knew about the aoe heal reduction but i didn't know about scylla's 1 not applying the reduction
Just looked up that slow formula. There are extra parameters. 1. You won't be affected by DR if your slowed by less then 40%. 2. Since a single slow won't proc DR you can reduce how slow someone is by trying to slow them again. If you have an 80% slow then no formula. However if someone else uses a slow then boom. Formula gets applied to their total which will be lower than 80% almost all of the time.
19:38 sometimes I had the impression that Scylla's 1 healed a lot with lifesteal, but I thought it was just an impression, I can't believe it's an actual game mechanic thing!
Great video thanks for making this! I've been playing smite since it released and I have never taken the time to understand some of the math behind the various stats. This was super helpful. One thing I do want to comment on is that I'm pretty sure you CAN stack at least 1 slow in the game and that is the slow from Midgard Mail. Not sure how the numbers work with the mails slow and another slow stacked. Do they add together for a combined total slow amount or is there some math involved that reduces their combined amount?
I know this video is old but I have come to share Smite wisdom. A lesser known mechanic in the game is Attack Speed: Specifically what Attack Speed does. It speeds up your animation while auto attacking, not just the startup of the auto attack. This means gods with higher Attack Speed also have higher Movement Speed, since the in-hand penalty start up and end lag animations play faster. This effect is the most noticeable on Athena. At level 1, using your final auto attack makes you slow for an incredibly long time, as the entire animation is double the length of her standard autos with a 1x/1x/2x attack chain. If you build attack speed on her, in addition to the attack coming out faster, she'll also begin moving at normal speed much sooner. This also works with AA Cancelling! Using an ability out of an auto attack will get rid of almost all of the effects of the lingering auto attack, including the movement speed reduction. This is very important for characters like Rama and Artemis, as it gives them greater ability to juke auto attacks. I'm sure people who've played the game for a long period of time have noticed when a Rama or Artemis gets a slight speed boost after using their 2 immediately after firing an auto attack. It can be difficult to notice if they're backpedaling, since the backpedal penalty is so significant, but when strafing or chasing it becomes way more noticeable. Note: Toggleable stim abilities like Rama's 1 and Xba's 1 have unique animations that don't cancel your attack chains, so they can't be used for this. However, Heimdallr has a replicable effect with his 3, although it's extremely mana hungry, he can cancel his attack chain to output massive amounts of damage at ridiculously high attack speeds early game. I'm not entirely sure if that's been patched out or changed, but given it's mana cost I imagine it's still in the game as a tech skill option.
Definitely easy to test if you can still mitigate out of an execute. Full Rank Chaac Ult (70%) + Full-Stacked Lono's Mask (15%) + Elixer of Defense (10%) = 95% Damage mitigation, which should put the execute at 499 or 500 damage.
Cant get lonos on warriors also lonos isnt damage mit but damage reduction its calculated differently so its damage×.85×.2 the multiply by .2 is cause of chaac ult and def pot is how it would be calculated if it was possible
Can you make a video of your favorite gods (From a kit design perspective) Just a example of what i mean, i think ares ult is one of the best ults from a design perspective. You have alot of ways to deal with a enemy ares ult beads it, take a risk and take it, aegis it to ignore the follow up dmg, use your cc immune ult. The ult forces you to make a choice and i think that is brilliant.
That was one of the best items in the game before they changed the passive I would always use it on God's like geb so I could get the double knock up after ult but it also gave terra some insane combos like being able to 3 and 1 into it and 3 again a 1 into that and have 2 huge aoe roots or w.e her circle does lol
On that last fact, that was the exact reason i was so pissed when they reworked nox 1, because i loved running full lifesteal nox and just grabbing people and healing for like 1600 health, 400 per tick for 4 ticks. But now, even if you only hit a god and nothing else, reduced. Forever. Its so stupid and i hate it. Like yeah, the extra clear is nice, but it should only apply when hitting anything that isnt a god. The line damage and the grab damage should be separated, but arent.
My only addition would be related to mystical mail and animosity. It's well known those items do magical damage, but are often built by more physical gods than magical. Picking up a toxic blade as a physical character will greatly help because the item gives magical and physical penetration regardless of your class.
@@mmoogl3547 As far as mystical mail goes I don't have a rebuttal. For toxic blade the 15 flat pen works great against squishy targets as they have 40-62 base magical prots throughout the game. That 15 flat pen helps your attack damage and animosity damage, in a addition to providing 30% attack speed and 100hp. A quality synergy with Animosity if I say so myself.
I didn't know about the executes thing, I started in season 2 and the 1 damage Ao basic attack thing the rest I knew about because I read Flarboot's mechanics guide once every 2 seasons lol.
Diddnt mention damage cancel on certain abilities like Awilix’s feather step you can use it and your immune to all damage while in the air. Ae Chaac ult can be completely dodged or ability’s that are predictable you can activate and avoid the ability or basic attack
Surviving executes may be possible with the somewhat recent buff to chaac ult (which has 70% mitigations now). Combine that with spirit robe and/or cabrakan passive and/or Oni Hunters Garb passive and you are close to 100% mitigations, which should let you live a thana or achilles ult easily.
@@dixnyomouff6982 no. But with the global health buff and since the execute range of something like thany is pretty high, you could be well over 1kHP, with the stacked percentage mit, 1k+ should be enough depending on thanny build. But you still get stunned and you'll be at like 600hp, so don't expect to live too much longer.
The shared exp bonus is one of the most frustrating things to deal with when you have a jungler who doesn't know about it and constantly complains when you rotate for their camps with them... "Stop stealing my exp"... Bro it's a teamgame, leech my wave if all camps are cleared...
You split camps with the jungle... wth are you talking about? The only reason you would is if your behind or if the jungle leached a wave or two. Your exactly right, it's a team game, so why in the hell would you put your jungler behind?
You can still do 1 dmg basics on Charybdis with her 0.33 triple throw in her triple hit at the end of her atk chain. Also you didn't mention jumping over merc ult (with spacebar not a leap)
Only 2 I didn't know about were the 'suviving exes' and '1 damage basic' One that I would love to throw in personally is that Olorun Ultimate can be abused by characters like Ne Zha who's stuns last as long as their animations do. Hitting Ne Zha sash onto an ulting olorun is disgusting af.
@9:55 did i understand it right? the order in which you purchase your pen items does affect in which order the penetration is applied? wtf i thought it always applied first flat then %
Guess I'm a nerd. Only one I hadn't heard of was the 1 damage basic attack, which is the one that's not even really a mechanic. I had forgotten about the support bonus, but I remember it now that your video reminded me of it, not entirely new information.
@@mcboy6464 yeah, but even after that if you build around it you can do it, even without ulting you should be able to get 100% aa mitigation all the time but do nothing else, if you get the 60% plus bumbas plus the glyph for 1,5sec reduction you can definetly do it
I mean in most other moba's if u let a tower kill a minion it's denied completely and you get *no* gold so I guess 3 is still nice? Do you not have to always last hit in smite?
Downloaded smite about 2 hours ago. About 1hour and 55 minutes ago, I started searching for something to give me even a slight chance of knowing what I’m doing.
Terra passive gives you Soul Gem stacks on her enhanced basics and both her ult when getting an enemy in it and monolith if you root sn enemy give 2 stacks each
A good example of great AA cancel mages would be like Aphrodite or morrigan or most mages with an easy to land cc ability who can follow it up quickly after launching a stun, AA, then their main dmg ability
i found it interesting that u mentioned the 1dmg auto attack but not that if xing ting goes staff of myrd and double 1's you, you do no basic attack dmg
The CCDR is getting a pretty big rework in this upcoming patch. 4 stacks of 20% instead of 2 stacks of 40% CCDR. There's more to it now but that's what stuck out to me.
Lowest ive ever hit was 8 as geb with 0 power vs Bacchus with max mag prots, max passive, spirit robe popped, oni hunters in a group of enemy gods and the upgraded shell mitigations. If i ever hit one id probably delete
with how soft ccs are described silence is a soft cc as well because you still have control of your character. the only "hard" ccs are stuns and displacements
I didn't know about the power "capping" - I have always been wondering if power points above the 900 mark for magical power, for example, is "wasted". The rest I think I knew about, besides the slows mechanic as well - I knew it DRd but had idea how exactly it did. I still have a lingering question, though, as I think I might just be getting confused from playing other games. Is lifesteal percentage additive?
I am playing since 7 years but there are still things in this Video i didnt know. Mainly the numbers like 120% shared XP. Very interesting and helpful video
Ha I Knew Every Single One ... Edit ... But it's only because knowing these things are my favorite parts about video games ... I just enjoy the nitty gritty mechanics...
@@chainsofgames 😅😅😅 thank you ... And yes I actually do stuff like that it usually takes me very long to complete games because I go around trying to figure everything out
