So cool to see a reaction to this heavily underrated song. I think I heard that this is the only song where Morrissey played the piano, and I absolutely love it
The cycle always reminds me of Dear Prudence. I also believed the meaning behind the song was about the early deaths from the Ecstasy drug in the UK mid-80s (may have been from an interview). However, there have been a lot of other (more recent) interpretations... like AIDs, murder of gay men in Manchester in the 70s/80s.
This album was the one I probably listened the least from all the Smiths catalogue. i didn't liked it when I listened for the first time. It has some strange quality I just can't keep my finger on. Nowadays I like it much more. Not my favorite Smtihs album, but still great. And this song is truly amazing. Thank you for bring this underrated track back to our memories.
