Im so glad I had the chance to go see them live mid 80's...so entertaining! My heart goes out to Dick, with the loss of Tommy a few months back. I hope he is doing well!!!
Loving all this nostalgia. Enjoy the Smothers Brothers been watching clips of Robin Williams as well as Jonathan winters. There's a treasure Trove of Comedy out there folks!!!
How cool to let this slow-burn go on for so long. Can you imagine doing a bit that way that takes that long now? There would be endless interruptions by the producer to move on.
@@harf59 No. There was a year before they went out. By that time Tommy had not picked up a guitar in almost 5 years. It was Robin Williams who asked them if they could do a charity event. They felt good about that and then started doing very tiny clubs. Lola Falana got them to come back to Vegas as her opening act and Glen Campbell had an awesome performance with them on his special where they were his backup singers and musicians on Blowing in the Wind. And they were back.
I remember listening to Smothers Bros albums growing up. Hangman, hangman slack your rope.... Hangman hangman slack your rope. Slack it .............. 🤣🤣
I use to stay up late watching Johnny Carson with my mom and massaging her tired and sore feet. We would laugh so loud that we sometimes woke up my Dad!! One night we were watching his true newspaper ads that were published and it happened to be MINE!!! In 1982, I was a secretary/receptionist for a real estate company in Dickinson, ND. I was in charge of writing the ads describing our listings. Mind you, this was before computers and maybe "spell-check". Johnny said, "Well lookie here folks, Dickinson, North Dakota has quite an interesting property on the market". My published ad..."Majestic home, set amongst rolling knolls with huge dick". Dang it! I meant DECK! Johnny and Ed are resting-in-peace and having fun in Heaven. "Doc" Carl Hilding, Bless his heart is 96 years young!! I know that Bob Hope made "Thanks for the Memories" popular for many of our loved ones in our heart. My fondest and innocent memories are smiles in Heaven. Amen.
