Bring back the Snake Train! This was a favourite among our family. The danger is what makes it exciting. Ride at your own risk! =P Some of the best roller coasters I have been on have been rickety old things. Sorry to hear that people got hurt though. Accidents are inevitable. I wonder whether it really is more likely to injure you (based on facts) than any other ride. Thanks for putting up the footage. Never expected to see it again. Good memories :)
Brilliant rare video footage, the Snake Train was the best. Coming from Nottingham we used to visit this park very often over school holidays as it was only a 45 minute or so ride. This ride was the best for me and my mates easily, The Python was also a big favourite.
I know you posted this a very long time ago, But Drayton Manor is a shadow of its former self now-So your from Nottingham-I'm from Kent you still live there? I do miss-The Tales of Robin Hood attraction! Went there one in the 80's in 1989, 3 times in the 90's, few times in the 2000's and twice in 2010's was gutted when it shut all because of landlord Tesco putting up the rent by double greedy fuckers
@@mikekaraoke yea I still live in Nottingham and just a hour ago I was saying to my Daughter that when this covid19 shit is over I was going to take her to Drayton Manor, she loves it there, but it's not as good as it used to be. Greedy landlords have fucked a lot of things up, up and down the country, high unrealistic rents have forced businesses to shut down and my family have had a first hand experience with this.
Can't believe they shut this down, it was the best ride in the park. Only two or three kids were killed each season, at the most. Political correctness gone mad!
Oh the good old days before rigorous health and safety! I used to love the snake train and miss it. But when you explain the concept of a man driving what was essentially a high speed lawn mower around a concrete path with four trailers, no real seatbelt and placing in a themepark. People think you make it up!
Skillful driving, but the ultimate award goes to the cameraman. He managed to survive the ride while filming with (I imagine) a camcorder the size of a small suitcase on his shoulder. Other guests were hanging on, albeit braced in the carriage with both arms. Good times!
@powerbggoods Your commenting on what your GUESSING happened, not facts! The "driver" wasn't "going like mad" and the driver wasn't procecuted for any "human error"!
Hi beefy I remember you mid nineties , who was the guy who drove it in the late 80s ? He was awesome to us as kids . Does the train or bits still exist do you think ?
@@Beefy2203 oh that’s sad , what a great place and time it was , magical . The days before everyone went soft . I reckon they should put that tractor unit on display
me and my sister has been on the snake train many times and use to love it that was until the very back car where just me and my sister was sitting hit a tree and my sister flew out with her legs trapped inside the car and her head dragging on the ground. all the park could say is..... *so sorry about this please visit again for free* yeah like that would happen never been back since
