I'm KSHE born and raised. This song taught me more than any history books ever did about 'the land of the free, home of the brave and of the great white father who dug so many graves'. I'm about one tick short of a Native Activist today ... and was formally just given an Indian name by poet laureate Henry Real Bird of the Absalooke (Crow) Nation. To be honored and humbled are the same. Thank you, JD Blackfoot ... this is nothing short of inspired.

I grew up listening to this song and I have nothing but great respect for Native Americans and their struggle. This is one of the most awesome, meaningful, emotional songs ever written...just sayin' :)

This song comes closest of any that I know in expressing that Crazy Horse, his band of Oglala, Cheyenne warriors, etc., were fighting desperately to protect their families, therefore it shows that in the end, the good guys lost. Crazy Horse is my hero and he can dream himself back into my real world anytime.

Sorry about that! My daughter, with the "Canto Isola" chior at her high school did what I thought was an "eye watering" rendition of the Mahk Jchi" that maybe gave "unlearned" persons some insight as to the real complicated beauty of the native culture that I personally absorb.

I love this song and its message. I havent heard it in 20 years and gives me the chills. I miss the introduction. I dont remember the exact wording but I remember it made clear who the "savages" were(and still are). Seems things are kind of the same just not so blatant. If anyone knows where I can find the intro, Please let me know.

thank you so very much for this song. im not so good with words as JD, so when i have to say that the bullshit must stop, your words, the words are peaceful, and to the point. so your song has been shared often by myself. i say again, thank you. it is my number 1 song.
