My literature teacher must've really enjoyed this since we had to watch this video for school, just thought I'd let you know since I believe it would be nice to find out that the content you make gets used in schools and educating children

However it must have unfolded, the epic is an inspiration, prompting us to never despair. . . and to always sound out the call to hope and victory in our worldwide battle to do what is right in the face of of opponents who would imprison us with lies and oppression. I find it curious that the authors used "King Marsile" instead of the presumed figure's real name, Suleyman al Arabi. The story is so skewed to make the Muslims look bad that I would think hiding al Arabi behind a fake persona was meant to deter fact finders. Sounds like Charlemagne _kidnapped_ him, and the Basque attack was his family trying to free him, which they did. The addition of the arrival of the emir of Babylon to assist al Arabi also makes no sense to me. Babylon supposedly being Cairo doesn't seem to help.
I think this kind of perspective seems to portray the composer as some sort of advertising company for the Pope, which is absolutely anachronistic. As much as ideology plays a part in terms of the composer's mentality, I think this is taking it too far. It's much more likely that the text simply reflects the view they had of muslims/arabs than a will to actively persuade people to go to the crusade. Which means the errors are more likely to be from lack of knowledge rather than deliberate manipulation.
