The fact that he would play the whole song, leads and all, on the 12 string when they played this live is amazing. This song is no easy task, thanks for tackling it

Much as I love dozens of LZ songs, this is the one I always look forward to listening to when inhaling something lovely. BTW, it's one of their truly prog songs, yet I've never seen it touted as such. It ain't right!

I remember getting a Led Zeppelin songbook as a teenager. I thought ‘Oh, OK, let’s see what the chords are for Song Remains The Same...😮 OK, that would be ALL of them, then.’ Never attempted it since, so thanks for the lesson.

Thank you for doing this, been waiting 5 years for someone to put out a lesson for this song on RU-vid. I’d check weekly and this is the first guitar lesson I’ve seen for it on RU-vid.

Hello ! My opinion over the sea ...France . I Think that 's a song recorded with Fender's , the 12 as usual , and a Télé for lead in major penta.... May be the heavy riff in A sound like Les paul ...Anyway! You make a perfect work ...nothing more , nothing less as you say! Thanks ! Best regards

First. thank you for this video. I've been trying to figure out for years what Page was playing in some of these parts. Second, I'm more interested in learning out to play the LIVE version which is 3 times better than the studio. No, make that 10 times better.

On the D-Dsus-D-C (2nd-5th-3rd fret) bit, many play the full 5th fret D triad down to the 3rd fret C triad. While the full D triad sounds fine, the C note on the 5th fret of the G string on the C triad sounds 'out'.... at least to me. Now you do get around that by muting the G string on both the D&C triads altogether as you do. It seems Page live uses his other fingers to upstroke on the E&B strings as he picks on the D string, thus excluding the G string, I find that if I actually play an E-minor triad at the 3rd fret after playing the full D triad at the 5th fret, that sequence now sounds, 'correct'. Try it. My explanation would be that Page does overdub in a couple Em triads during the intro stabs, doing a kinda polychord thing I imagine. So to me thats why Em sounds like it fits in the D to ''C'' thing rather than having to mute the C note in the triad. Just finger the B note to make the triad Em instead of C, then you can make both the D to Em triads ring out in full.

Ok a little off topic but is that a spirit orb floating out of his guitar at the 21 second mark of this video? Look like it. They're a lot more common than most people think. Not a bug dust wouldn't make a huge turn either. I swear guys. Pretty interesting seems to come directly out of the body of his les paul. I live in an apartment building that was built in 1900 and ive caught these same things when I play on my guitar 🎸 There's something to it I believe just like Hendrix n Jimmy Page saw crazy stuff too. The common denominater is awsome music! I had to say something. Go ahead laugh at me. 😂😂😂 Pretty cool though

I had a 1989 EDS 1275 that I bought brand new for somewhere around $1500. I sold it in 2015 for $3300. Honestly, I don't think there is enough difference between the Epiphone and the Gibson to justify the extra $5k or so.

I've read that Page and Jonesy liked being uncopy-able. You did a great job of catching sporadic flourish of Jimmy. Some say Page is sloppy, I think he is inventive and fresh sounding- not studied. Want a cheap EDS? Trogly has a Chibson he cut in half- a little glue and some shims?! 🤨

Well, as a working professional musician, one must learned to bend over when necessary if he or she wants to succeed. The 7000$+++ you need to buy the Gibson EDS-1275 will come you way as soon as you are ready to accept certain compromises. Believe it or not but being a working musician isn't that different from being an office worker except for the hours and the 24\7 mobility needed to make ends meet. Yesterday, I worked in some hell hole in Missouri where the waitress also act as the town whore willing to blow anybody for 50$ but one week prior to that I was playing with the house band aboard a luxury cruise ship in the Caribbean. Wish you good luck and learn to swallow, not spit. I'm itching like hell down there....I think that waitress gave me crabs?
