A think we can all agree that Valery was the toughest interior decorator that the business has ever seen.

Man let them in his home, turned his back to them, offered them a drink, and gave them the money no hassle. Nothing about this besides Paulie could have possibly turned this interaction violent.

It was Paulie's fault. The Russian was just smoking and getting drunk on Vodka in his room. Paulie kept instigating him with crude jokes and intentionally dropped the expensive remote.

I have a feeling Valery was a made guy in the Borko crew.

I hope Valery is in the Sopranos prequel, so we can see how he decorated Johnny Boy Soprano’s house before he lost all his skills to booze.

The story behind this episode is just as good as the episode. The writers were just messing around with the idea of "Paulie and Chrissy get lost in the woods" and it became one of the most talked about episodes of television in history.

He came at Paulie with a universal remote. He had a right to defend himself!

Fun fact: Russian Spetsnaz learn how to use spades as a weapon. A Russian defector once said “the Spetsnaz soldier loves his spade more than his Kalashnikov.” It was seen as a weapon first and an entrenching tool second. So handing Valery that shovel was a big mistake.

And on top of it all, Valery doesn't seem like a bad guy at all. He's so friendly and hospitable with Tony. I love how he says "You want something? Food?"

Paulie somewhat told it differently to Christopher, and likely he would've told it differently to someone else. After a while, as legends are formed, Valery would have killed an entire army with lightning bolts shooting out his ass..

The way Valery was so funny and condescending to both Tony and his own boss and best friend Slava, was hilarious. Even Slava was laughing.

I’d like to think that surviving this is what got Valery out of his depression, like when Tone almost got whacked by the newsstand.

Christopher screaming and jumping back after he open the trunk and sees Valery thrashing around made me piss my pants laughing when this first aired. Still cracks me up years later, Imperioli is so damn good!

Kinda wished Tony would have found out the truth about this situation. Paulie was more of a liability to the family, than anyone else. First with this, then blabbing his gums to Johnny about family business, and of course, the joke.

It always seemed to me that Valery could have easily finished both of them with the shovel when they were down. Maybe being drunk in a trunk with an injury took the edge off his decorating skills.

Unlike goombahs like Paulie and Chrissy who play pretend "soldiers", Valery is an actual warrior. Glad to see he escaped in the end. And who knows, maybe that headshot cured his alcoholism?

Here's my idea for an HBO movie. As far as we know, Paulie & Patsy were the lone 'survivors' in the war with NY. They took over 'whatever is left' in New Jersey but they are run by New York headed by Little Carmine. Times have changed and both families are losing what was once theirs to the Russian Mafia but have kept the peace. Valery has been plotting his revenge against Paulie for years and finally reveals himself. It will have a conclusive ending as opposed to the Sopranos finale. Minor characters will make cameos as well.

Paulie and Christopher are like Dumb and Dumber but instead of stupid they're stupid and emotional. I tell myself Valery survived this encounter and laughs about the two hotheaded guidos while driving drunk in the car Paulie liked so much.

The whole show was one dark comedy....Love it !
