@@JohnKastoras Which one do you mean, first one is "Forgotten Magic" second one and third one are from the Imperial Knowledge OST, which is available on my Patreon
Man i really want to know what paarthurnax did when he served alduin. Did he only kill like the lesser dragons or did he took part on a especific event against humanity so delphine hate him?
Thing is, the ideal masters are delusional. They managed to convince themselves that the souls they have trapped are given peace and bliss for eternity. So it wouldn't surprise me if at first, the soul cairn was not such a bad place to be, but as time passed, the ideal masters personalities degraded due to undeath... And with their sanity, so did their realm of oblivion.
Maybe they conluded that the "right perspective" of Tamriel is akin to being in an Arena where all life was confined to fight for life. Contrasting this concept they may or may not see there realm as a kind of.. Heaven, if you will.
That they might have stolen the (pocket?) realm from Molag Bal makes a lot of sense. Not only due to the esthetical look, but also because Molag Bal is the daedric prince of necromancy, which is also the ideal masters speciality. Maybe it was even given to them by him as a mean to capture (and by that way dominate) souls. They might even have struck a deal with him to become the ideal masters, unknowingly letting them selves be captured by Molag Bal in the process.
It's also possible that, compounding with the possibility that they could want the souls in order to appease some higher power, that the aforementioned higher power is the original creator of the Soul Cairn, and that the Ideal Masters somehow convinced the being to give it to them. However, this being would demand payment, and that payment ends up being souls. So the being is kind of like your asshole landlord who never informs you about, or talks to you about any sort of schedule before he shows at random times to the home and judges you unfairly because you don't know these times because he's a dick and refuses to share them.
The description of the soul cairn reminds me of the description of molag bal's oblivion realm unless the soul cairn is his realm and the ideal masters are just beings that are created to watch molag bal realm
Maybe the Ideal Masters put in broken down buildings and dead or dying trees that they "borrowed" for the souls trapped there hoping that the people can build it up and maybe start their very own little ghost village.
There are nicer places in the Cairn then what you get to see of it in Skyrim. It's fairly nice (and green rather than purple) in Battlespire. So it's probably as diverse in different areas as any other realm.
The souls of the Soul Cairn only enter when soul trapped into a Black Soul Gem and it is utilized in enchanting. The mind and consciousness of the soul is not utilized and is the only thing that remains after the rest of the soul energy is stripped away and used to power an enchantment. The soul is transported to the Soul Cairn where it retains a self-aware reflection of their living self. My theory is that most of the souls there wish to remain as their former memory of themselves and live in a state of eternal sadness, boredom, and suffering. But some "acclimatize" to the realm by the laws laid down by the Ideal Masters there. Some who wish to serve and wish for a mercy and purpose make a pact and coalesce into the Bonemen. Those who have a mental break and begin to view the Soul Cairn as a peaceful and "loving" afterlife become the Mistmen. And those who give into their endless hatred and rage at their plight become the Wrathmen. I believe in this transition after making these pacts with the Ideal Masters completely destroys the last scraps of a soul into a parody and puppet, but also gives a soul languishing for eternity a purpose (mostly in desperation). This also conveniently ensures the Ideal Masters have a readily supplied surplus of soldiers to defend the Soul Cairn as well as to make further deals with necromancers and other mortals in the Mundus. Eventually, I believe all souls there will decide to make the transition...as it is only a matter of time before they can't take it anymore and their minds degrade under the weight of eternity.
What if it was more gradual turning into what they are now so they originally had structures and trees. Maybe it's a twisted reflection of a place in nirn where they started it all. Maybe they are their teenage years of immortality and this is their edgy phase
I think it's to mock death. In Battlespire if you read the inscriptions on tombstones and talk to the Mistmen you learn that their ideology views Death and Time as the Enemy, and furthermore you can find things in the Cairn like a group of gravestones which each are inscribed with (rather than the names of a dead person) inscriptions about how they have triumphed over death ("Thus do I cheat the worms of their unjust plunder" being one of my favorites). I think their architecture is thus meant to mock death itself, making their realm look like a ruinous graveyard despite the fact that it is a deathless realm filled with eternal life (or, at least, what the Ideal Masters think of as "filled with eternal life"). :P
I have a question for Imperial Knowledge about The Ideal Masters: Do they grant Lichdom though the Lich Ritual? It's never been stated if it's Daedra related or related to The Ideal Masters. Any thoughts on this??
That is a very good question, I dont know the definitive answer as we dont know too much about the ideal masters. But I do think that, while I dont know if they have connection to the process, they will be able to tell necromancers what the process itself is. Shame I dont know more about it, will look into it and comment under this if I find more!
@Remove Talos I suspect it involves The Ideal Master's in some form like they tell you the items you need for the ritual (E.G Black soul gem's,Void salts & Daedra hearts) but the actual transformation is provided by a Daedric Prince but I can't think of any Daedra associated with The Undead besides Meridia.
No. From Battlespire, they offer immortality through becoming either a selfless Bonemen, a zen-as-fuck Mistman, or a pissed-off Wrathman. A Lich would be an abomination in their eyes, since their ideal immortality is to free yourself from your tattered garments (your body) not to bind yourself to those garments eternally.
@@GNOMESARECOMINGFORYOu Oh ok. I haven't played too much of Battlespire. Lich's are probably connected to A Daedric Prince who I think might be Clavicus Vile.
Your theory doesn’t make sense though you say the buildings were left over from the original owner I am battle spire The soul carin isn’t the giant mansion as the entire plane And it says in the Lord if you created a plane like the Deirdre or The ideal masters you control every part of its existence so they wanted it to be a giant Mansion then but they changed it I don’t know why they did but they did good Theory though keep up the good work
I wonder if the Soul Cairn was created by people and so they made what they saw around them as it’s what they would know while making it. Over time the buildings crumbled and the trees turned dark from lack of sun.
No,it’s confirmed that the Soul Cairn was created by Ideal Masters.Fa-Nuit-Hen,a demiprince and the scion of Boethiah said that they selected an area of chaotic creatia in Oblivion and made the Soul Cairn themselves.
