the sound is really close to bad CV axles but don't let that fool you if you replace your CV axles and wheel hubs and it's still making this noise more than likely it's the bearings in your front differential

@@redhandedreviews3482 I think what had me thrown was my rear driver's outer axle boot has also failed so it was very hard trying to figure out what was making noise but I was almost positive it was the differential. After watching your video yesterday I went home to the shop and started digging in. Sure enough you are spot-on thanks again

My man 06 bmw 325xi here and I have that sound when turning a bit sharp I thought it was gonna tear my wheels apart the only thing Is i dont here it when accelerating only when turning think it could be just the cv joints? I do know i need a knew cv axel so i might as well do the whole suspension

I have a Jeep WJ 2000 and it’s definitely this after watching your video basically makes no noise when foot off the gas but applying any acceleration it clicks and goes away slightly at higher speeds. It’s super loud from like 0 - 25. I put my Jeep in N going down hill and no clunks as soon as I put it in drive and add gas it would clunk. Thank you I’m hoping I figured it out but this suckkks
@redhandedreviews3482

Yeah it does suck but if it's just the bearings and not the gears that in itself is a wheww moment..lol .yeah any gas made it click like that..it sucks...I don't know anyone that works on them..

If you been driving it like that for that many months you give me hope with my rear diff.. Mine is not grinding but it does have a very faint low whir sound and some backlash when putting it in gear especially reverse. Sometimes it clunks 1 time when turning at very slow speeds avery now and again. I found I had a leak and didnt know for like 2 months and was almost 3/4 empty on fluid. Im getting the gasket fixed and putting in royal purple to see if that can buy me time to get the money to either rebuild it or swap it out. Parts are not expensive for my car its the labor that gets you.
@redhandedreviews3482
@redhandedreviews3482 11 месяцев назад
Yeah drove it like that for a year and a few....now with the rear making a whirl noise could be your pinion gear ..clunking could be bad bushings in the front diff,,,,or bad drive shaft prop shaft or slack in the transfer case chain...make sure if you have electric limited slip to add more than the bottle has in it ..I had that clunking into gear too thought it was my rear it was my rear drive shaft..and prop shaft...the clunk while going into Reverse... I have now...might be my axles...not sure yet .one single clunk clank noise when I back up...might be my transfer case..I have a spare so ..10 mm wrench and ratchet wrench with swivel head and shorty wrenches needed ...I noticed I can move my shafts while parked ...

Yeah I went in for an alignment they said they cant alien my jeep thats there is no adjustments...Jack ass's at Jack williams/Kost, and dodge Dealership. I knew at that point these chain repair shops have no to little education. They proved it when they hired a friends kid that only worked on his truck...and only his cars no training, certification, so. When a shop says you need this or that, people do it out of respecting their knowledge, I have a good friend thats been a cert mech for almost 2 decades that gave me a heads up on issues with a bad starter...transmission, and electrical issues reading false codes.....I just posted that one..I have more experience than them. But I replaced the parts on what I was told it was or my own accord like shocks wheel hubs, drive shaft water pump alternator , I replaced transfer case, egr valve, and lower control arms due to the shops.......Most people have issues with the chain loosening in the transfer case that can sound like that when it smacks off the casing, and the chains are known to skip teeth...axles click, but this was different lol. I know the sounds of things now on this jeep...lmao
@redhandedreviews3482
@redhandedreviews3482 11 месяцев назад
Funny thing is ..none of the repairs they said was needed was either just replaced or was not the problem ..that's why in the last year I pretty much listen to a friend or myself .

Thankyou very much for this. Have very similar symptoms on a Nissan Navara D40 in Oz (similar to Frontier or Titan in the US). Hoping it's front diff and not transmission or t/f as front diffs here are relatively easy to get used and a ton less money than a gearbox rebuild. Interesting why mine quietens down on coast or no load same as yours but starts up again under power even though only rear diff would be getting engine torque. I also have slight steering restriction but just noticeable

Gotta highlander with humming noise coming from the front drivers side. Me and 2 mechanics thought it was the wheel bearing and i got them replaced and a drivers side axle and it still makes the same humming noise constantly when you're moving foot on or off the pedal, and now they're saying it's a transfer case. Idk what to do. Have you ever heard of this, do you have any idea's?
@redhandedreviews3482
@redhandedreviews3482 11 месяцев назад
The humming noise is the first sign of bad bearings...I was told it was my wheel hubs then transfer case ...I took it apon myself to do front diff..that's when I found out it was the problem....some mechanic shops just don't have it nor can they diagnose a problem by a noise...also no grease in your axle could do it like mine is doing...I need to replace them but been repacking them with grease..now the boot is ripped ...however i can see it being the front diff as the bearings are noisy then it goes to a clicking sound almost like bad axles...bad axles drive shaft , prop shaft should be checked first before going the front differential replacement..
@redhandedreviews3482
@redhandedreviews3482 11 месяцев назад
But the diff making noise sounds more in the middle of the vehicle as it is in the center of the vehicle..plus drive shafts throw noise as sound moves thru metal...and they make a wheel hub noise when going bad..mi e did..sounded like a bad wheel bearing going down the road and was worse when I let off the gas....if it's isolated to driver side it could be the axle or bearing in the diff on that side inside.

So im having the same issue, and someone told me if i eliminate the front shaft from the transfer case to the front differential it would take away the sound and instead of having awd it would be 2wd just until i get the front differential, is this true???

@redhandedreviews3482

You can change them... Might be probably easier to pull the diff..but the bearing puller should fit in there without pulling the diff just axles...if it's a pinion gear then it is a little more involved.

@redhandedreviews3482
@redhandedreviews3482 2 года назад
The only thing I can imagine when that happens is the bearings are just going or it needs a front diff fluid change possibly front cv axle or prop shaft......if the fluid has limited slip differential fluid additive in it by another bottle because you might need it..but fluid usually gives it a binding kinda thump...when turning...

Does a Camry 2. has a differential?
@redhandedreviews3482
@redhandedreviews3482 Год назад
Not sure. I know all wheel drive does...But anything that has cv axles must have bearings that the CV axle locks into it ...those bearings with the splines could be bad I suppose and make noise...I know my cougar c2 had bad spline or bearings inside the front ..I believe they called it a gearbox like a subaru...it was a standard..but my Subaru is automatic...but it is all wheel drive so it has a front diff..
