Would that Hakuin had included Omar Khayya'm in the picture of Buddha, Lao Tzu and Confucius drinking the same wine and sharing the Smile of the Spirit, but maybe 'The wine is Omar and Omar the wine' . Every koan is exactly the same difficulty... and every koan has a perfectly logical answer!

Koans don't go "up" in difficulty - that's not the spirit! One koan asks you about stones, another koan asks you about the moon, yet another asks you about anger . Stone and moon and anger are all in their element.
