i bought a treble recorder from an online charity shop. When it turned up it was an aulos tenor. This wonderful piece has inspired me to move onto tenor when I have improved on the treble. I have started lessons again aged 67 having last played descant 59 years ago so a lot to learn but its SUCH fun....
I play tenor recorder too. I'm going to try raising my eyebrows on the high notes as you do. Funny, I know singers do that, but I never thought to try it on recorder.
Ive recently gotten obsessed with all flutes. Last week i ordered a chinese xiao and an indian bansuri. Yesterday I bought a second hand aulos alto, today I ordered a thomann alto & tenor and tomorror im going to buy 2 second hand sopranos.🙈😂🤦 Lots to choose from heheh.
Beautiful. Just started learning, after a LONG time since the elementary school recorder! I now have more inspiration. Was just clicking around, found this, immediately subscribed! Really good stuff!
@@faisalthakur3152 Thanks, you too! I restarted my attempt at this on a tenor, physical issues make fingering difficult at best, so am now window shopping sopranos (ironic, eh?!) for easier reach. Yamaha makes good self-teach books, fyi. Simon's videos (he has a few out) inspire/motivate me to try try try....
@@faisalthakur3152 Hi, thank you for your message. The best way is to learn off RU-vid. Learn the fingering first by playing very simple tunes. This will also teach you how to read music etc. Play pieces you know, perhaps children's songs you learnt etc. You will soon pick it up 😁👍
It is funny Because the school district Makes everyone play the recorder in grade school... Making it the last instrument Anyone would ever want to pick up on their own I played the trumpet for years That was my instrument of choice But it wasn't until I became an adult completely Being in my forties That I decided to pick up the recorder By choice Only to realize how beautiful it really sounds... My point is The school district Needs to find another instrument Because they are distracting The recorders True beauty They make no one want to pick one up by choice
andean peruvian music (and peruvian music as a whole) is baroque in nature thanks to mestizaje. People love associating "native andean" music with the incas, but really if its any inca itd be the alferez real inca and the panacas of the viceroyalty period.
Okay so I bought a tenor today and thought it would be fairly easy, having played the saxophone for many years. Turns out it wasnt. It is very hard just to hold the tune. So this guy is more awesome than i first realized. Now back to practising.
@@kiryumecho861 )) я в курсе)) Это я так "правильно" умею выражаться. Имел в виду "тоже играю, но на альте". В общем вышло как известное "казнить нельзя помиловать"))
Awesome, man. I want to get one of these so badly, but I don't dare because I need to be practicing Native American Flute. I make ones that are reasonably polyphonic if you half hole the first hole. When I hear what a couple customers play it puts me to shame. They have all kinds of extended scales that are very easy, above and beyong the pentatonic minor that's their immediate, primary tuning.
@@simoncorser8083 cheers.. my plastic tenor is unplayable.. full of condensation/spit after a couple of bars.. have a vintage wooden Adler.. sounds lovely.. but after a wooden tenor with low C# bidding on one at the moment 🤟😎
Hi Simon. I have just been gifted an Aulos tenor recorder and I have managed to work out a couple of tunes, but would love some instruction as to how to play The Sound of Silence. I haven't played recorder since I was a kid, but I play viola so I do have some musical grounding (with string instruments but not with woodwind). Anyhow, any hints as to how to play this tune would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and hey, you really get a quality sound out of that thing. Nice one!
Hi! I appreciate I’m a bit later viewing this video , but just wanted to say how beautiful your rendition sounds. Are you able to provide the sheet music for this at all please? ( hope im not being cheeky in asking!)
@@simoncorser8083 hi Mr Simon Corser.I been watching your flute cover already..im your number one fan Rommel Revilla from the Philippines..that instrument is really difficult to find here in my country..that is one of my dream.a dream to have have a flute like aulos 511b..hope you will grant my wish.thank you and Godbless
Thank you for your thoughts. Vibrato can be a controversial topic. The French flute tradition use a lot of vibrato. Whereas the German and English tended to use a lot less. I've carried my vibrato over from my flute playing 😊
Great job Sir!I know that You play the western concert flute as well. Please tell me is the western transversal flute more difficult to learn than a tenor recorder?Kind regards from Bulgaria.
