The sounds I created for Montage M as sound designer!  

It really feels like this keyboard was made with movie scores and producers in mind. All the variance and control and rich sample library. After touch. Just with the stock sounds you will feel inspired to compose. Incredible!

At 19:52 The Felt is my absolute favorite sound in this demo. Just so beautiful and evocative! I can already hear several new song ideas coming from just this one performance.

Got it today and just spent 4 hours playing the M8x and I can’t see how anyone can seriously criticize it if they have not played one. It is magnificent. There’s really too many awesome things to try to put into a short paragraph. I know it’s pricey and I was fortunate to be very outdated with any hardware synths so this is like a giant leap into the future.

Wow.... great sounds, and the keyboard itself seems so nice with all of its controls and layout, looks like a real fun and a useful beast for live performance and sure for studio too

FedEx just delivered a M8x 15 minutes ago. I’m letting it acclimate to the temperature in the box for an hour. It really isn’t cold where I’m at, but just want to be cautious. The song “Anticipation” is going through my head.😊

Thank you for making the felt composer performance it’s great ! And I have no doubt you and the other beta testers are responsible for Yamaha being told their aftertouch was too “touchy” (sensitive) the m8x has the best aftertouch control I’ve tried. Capable of great subtlety.

Hey man love the sounds you did fantastic job. With sounds performance voices sounds like a performance. I like the way Yamaha designed the keyboard it’s a perfect design and super useful for studio & love users. I love to watch more AWM2 sounds. Only thing is little funny that there’s no Polyphonic after future on 6/7 models, Not a good decision by Yamaha because 6/7 keys are highest selling keyboards. One more thing there’s no information or a demo about the arpeggieter. Nice demo! ❤

Yamaha has been basing presets on "abstract" sounds for decades. Give people a great bass guitar sound, multi-layered, piano that doesn't need to be refined later, a great lead guitar, great ethnic sounds... You say a phenomenal AWM2 synthesis...and you can't get a natural mono/legato/portamento effect on it. On the keyboard which costs over 4.000 dollars! Players don't need space pads and fairy-tale pianos, but sounds to take the stage and blow away. In the end, we pay for what the factory has enabled by default, not to chase down the samples and sounds we need later.

My regular Montage still works & sounds great. Since there is no polyphonic after touch on the M7, it’s a no go for me. Great demonstration as always Dom.

Greatgreat sounds! The new Montage is a flaw for live bands. Only aftertouch on the smaller models plus way to big due to the placement of the ribbon and wheels next to the keys.

Great KB... But.. why polyphonic aftertouch only on 88 keys? For me it's a non-sens...

It would be great if the led line beside the fader knob when you move it automatik snab to the faderknob. Instead of how it is today where you have to move the fader to the place on the led line where it goes to. And first then can move the fader. This chance would be great and very helpful and spare you time especially live.

Very very good sound design, Dom! Since Yamaha came out with the Montage M, I keep thinking about getting the M8X version for myself. DAW integration with Cubase Pro is a huge thing for me, I'd like to control all VST's with the Workstation. Didn't have the best results with Nektar and AKAI controllers tbh. Does it work well with the Montage M?

it reminds me of the Korg Wavestate the sounds like as the Wavestate-SE of Korg all the divrent sounds, but the Yamaha Montage M synth sounds great

I have a Fantom 8 in my home studio, and the only thing as a songwriter that could make me buy a Montage is- if it is more user-friendly. The capacity of most new synthesizers is fantastic, but some (like the Fantom) are a struggle to handle. I'm optimistic about this one.

The MONTAGE M uses the principle A,B,C,D. I haven't really understood this principle until now. Is this something like zones? A,B,C,D is colored. There is also a display in the MONTAGE M.

The sound at 22:26 will be great for me to study how to make the Super Knob create sound similar to the Multi Saw, or as many know the Super Saw. If I remove the Attack from the sound and set the Filter Attack to 0, then set the Dacey to a lower level and the Filter Dept to the maximum, and remove the Velocity sensitivity, I can create a typical Super Saw sound . As I turn up the Filter Cutoff, the Pluck-like sound becomes complete, and it can become a typical Pad sound if I add an additional Release at the end, but if not, it is also suitable for a sustained Brass sound, for which the Super Knob can be used to set a Detune value I can do whatever I want. I don't have a Montage M yet, but I plan to. I love programming sounds, but unfortunately I didn't see the Multi Saw oscillator Wave in the manual, but with this solution it will be. This is great because most of the time I can do this sound in Unison mode with other instruments where I add additional Detune.

As I see it, the smaller keyboard versions have no advantages apart from the price. Even fast synthesizer solos seem to be super playable on the 88-key version! What do you think?

Can you do a video or explanation about how if we purchase the Montage M8x we can use it commercially in our productions? I'm rather confused. If I create a sound but it sounds like something else already created will I have to pay royalties? What's the purpose of buying this machine if we can't use it's sounds commercially?

how are these keyboards with DAW integration? Do they have track out feature? For example: im looking in to the Korg PA5x , I want to know if i can take a drum kit/loop export 4 bars of it as trackouts and use it on other projects. They have told me its not possible and id have to record each sound from the kick/snare/clap/hihat all seperately and combine them. Which is stupid to me bc the keybaord is 4500$

Dom. Your vids help a lot to understand what the new MontageM really is. Please try to include sounds of different types, not only cinematic or complex evolution types. I play live with cover bands and some basic sounds are my everyday needs. I sold the old Montage in June to buy an YC73 which is perfect for me when added with some VSTs. I will buy the MontageM if the VST version will be really complete. I didn't like at all the news about polyphonic aftertouch only on 88 keys version. I think I will buy new Korg controller that is already midi2 compliant and with PAT. I would love to carry with me a Montage M engine leaving hardware at home. Let's see if this will be true.

Wouldn’t the nautilus AT still beat the Montage or is there something missing in the Nautilus compared to the Kronos .. I also would add that the fact that 10 years later KORG couldn’t do a significant upgrade from the KRONOS should say something too
