But once you factor in the fact that the sous vide supreme will last more than ten years and the average life of the Anova is 2-4 years you are break even after 4-6 years.
This review is old and not valid. I paid under 240 and this is easy to pour out. Funny how she rips on every feature but it's rocking for me. As far as the temp, stays within 1 degree. Takes up little space in my pantry. This little thing rocks. Check out Amazon for updates pricing!
I have used many Sous Vide appliances 15 years and thin that SousVide Supreme is the best. As Elon Musk observed, “the best part is no part”, and that is true of this model. No moving parts to break. I’m pleased that it does not have a drain or vacuum sealer - 2 less things to go wrong. I hadn’t used my SousVide Supreme for about 5 years (used other devices) now that I’m using it again with years of perspective of using other devices I think it’s the best fo home. I still travel with a portable SousVide.
I kind of laugh at your program being called "First Look" as the Sous Vide Supreme has been on the market for several years. I bought one of the Demi models (slightly smaller unit than the one you reviewed) in 2011 for $299. While neither the Demi nor full size models have had any enhancements since their original release, and I see their list prices have gone up, I'm still quite happy to have one in my kitchen. I have had a lot of fun experimenting with different things to cook with my sous vide supreme including making custard style ice cream to even more mundane tasks like just using the water bath to heat up cans of beans. What I am looking forward to is the more next generation models such as the not yet available Mellow sous vide machine which is supposed to incorporate refrigeration so that you can prep a meal before work and not have it start cooking until later in the day so that it's ready by the time you get home and bluetooth or wi-fi connectivity so that you can control it with your phone remotely.
So it's expensive... and it keeps the temperature more consistent than the others... and it's more energy efficient... and it's all one durable unit... but you can't recommend it, or even spend enough time to qualify for ad revenue... totally not a biased or paid review (paid by competitor)
My brother is into this thing, apparently since you wrap the meat in a bag, the moisture stays inside, so supposedly you cannot overcook something and therefore can cook it at an exact temperature for a long time. But I don't know much about it to be honest.
Be sure to read honest and real reviews of Sousvide Supreme on my blog before you buy. Go to gohonestreviews. com/sousvide-supreme-review/ Thanks, Sherwood.
This is a legitimately awful review. For any product. No metrics were shown. Only complaint is a non factor. You'll always have to empty the bath at some point. This device performs exactly as advertised. Please put some effort into your content.
