My grandad worked on the STARWARS program under Reagan. While the tech never made it to space in the form that was proposed it DID lead to the development of lasers from earth to recharge our satellites and other space craft using special panels kind of like solar panels.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Dripping molten metal on the heads of troops on the ground?!?!?!? Developed by DARPA??? Um, think we need the US space weapons video next here, Simon!
I think he means the magnetic hydrodynamic cannon. A theoretical type of contraption which could accelerate molten metal or plasma to high speed by intense magnetic fields, but as far as I know these are still out of the realms of possibility, at least outside the lab conditions.
Do you think you could do a video on the Nevada-Class Battleships as both ships had interesting careers. One of which USS Nevada tried to escape Pearl Harbor, fought at D-Day , Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and survived 2 atomic bombs. I would say that's a mega ship. Awesome video. Hope more videos are coming.
4th & final video watched on Simon's newest channel. Glad I subscribed, definite keeper. With that said.... My favorite channel is still Simon's cocaine commentating, basement business blazing, dictator of Danny's dungeon, platform. I am a true LEGEND! Much love from Philadelphia, PA.,USA
You could use the 45 Tesla magnet at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University or the HALPS laser array in the Czech Republic for a video on large scientific instruments.
I got to stand next to the SS United States years ago. It is massive, really cool looking old ship just was unfortunately sitting there rotting away. I know there was a non profit trying to raise money to buy and restore it but I don't know if that ever happened.
July, 1973 the Soviet Union successfully tested a R23M rapid fire cannon (23mm shell) from Salut 3, as part of the ALMAS program. The only weapon known to have actually fired in space.
On September 13th, 1985, a U.S. Navy F15 successfully shot down a satelite that was was currently traveling at an orbital speed of 17,500 mph in space, having zero gravity. This was done with an air to air missile fired from an American aircraft while in flight, using 1983 US technology. There is even a video of it that you can find on youtube. Recently Russia made the news for doing the same thing for the first time...37 years after the US did it. The way it was reported from most media sources, was done in a way to suggest they are ahead of the US technologically. Russia may have developed an ammunition that packed enough power to escape Earths force of gravity in 1973, but their ammunition was not "smart ammunition". My comment is not meant to "one up yours", but rather intended to offer another perspective. Respectfully
I think that the X-37b has done five missions. Apperently space videos dont performe as well as other videos, but i think that a video about the X-15 and X-20 could be something that would be suiting to this channel. And on megaprojects a video about the Space Shuttle would be really awesome! Edit: and for the sweet views and watchtime a video about something like a sport stadium (i heard they are impressive, but i dont know anything about them nor am interested in learnin anything about them) could be fitting ^^
If you want more crazy Cold War weapons, I'd recommend taking a look at Project Pluto. It was a proposed nuclear powered, thermonuclear armed monstrosity. The thing that made it scary is that it was somehow less humane than ICBMs in that since it was an unshielded nuclear ramjet that would've flown at low altitude, it would've given everything it flew above a lethal dose of radiation. Add to that the fact that it could fly basically for days on end and you have yourself a nightmarish angel of death. Oh, and the Russians are developing something similar right now called 9M730 Burevestnik (NATO calls it the SSC-X-9 Skyfall). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pluto en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9M730_Burevestnik
Suggestions. The massively expensive F35 JSF fighter. Will it be a world beater or just an expensive flop. Or you could do a full video on stealth technology. From Project have blue, the downed F117, through to 2 billion dollar B2s, and the new B21s. Another suggestion. The progression of nuclear submarines. From the early years, and disasters and sinkings though to todays leviathans, capable of turning entire countries to ash . ( i know you covered the typhoon)
When I've finally been off the youtube a few days, I get an email and you've started another channel. Once again, I have 12 tabs of Simon open at 12:39 at night. The email was an excellent idea.
A skiffy author at the 1984 World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim proposed a "wheel gun" laser 6-shooter that used crystalline "cartridges" that operated on a piezoelectric capacitance-discharge technology way beyond what we have now ... But it took into account the fact that piezoelectric crystals need to recharge/relax after having been struck (which is why he made it a "western" skiffy setting: gotta RELOAD!)
Science fiction is an inoculation against future shock. It doesn't mean you WON'T be shocked ... It just means you're slightly less likely to have a catastrophic coronary thrombosis when you hear what this asshole did today ...
HOW MANT RU-vid CHANNELS DO YOU HAVE AND HOW DO YOU HAVE THE TIME TO RECORD THEM ALL!!!!!! if you need a break or anything take one we have months of content to watch this seems stressful ( I know I would be stressed if I hade 20 youtube channels) anyway love the vids take a break if you need one don't worry about us :)
So there are a number of things that give it away but if you pause at 00:29 the black and white picture talking about just after WWII has a Toy Story II billboard on the right. Guess it is hard to find a times square pic from 1950.
Simon said screw it, I won't make a really long random video....I'll just make a bunch of channels with different content and flood RU-vid with 10 to 20 minute videos lol keep up the hard work Simon! 🍻
Typical Simon that I had to find out from another channel why this channel came to be, lol doesn't change the fact I still subscribed when it appeared.
I think he said in his first vid here that it was mega projects not mega enough for that channel (a lot of this stuff wasn't built so you can't really call it mega).
Anti-satellite weapons? The U.S. has them. Allegedly. I saw a video recently, probably on one of Simon's channels, which revealed that one destroyed a British space telescope.
Mr.Simon Whistler please make a video on Indian space program, about how they are doing everything in a cheaper amount than other space organisation and how India successful make the highest record in sattelight launching.
All your channels are really good, big fan... maybe do something about México? The Aztec pyramids found under the Zocalo and Palacio Nacional (the Capital of Mexican Government downtown Mexico City)... pretty interesting... saludos!!!
I'll watch this tomorrow I'm going to bed I just clicked on to give you a view because I'm a whistler. also JRE just dropped.. I'll watch the other 4 tomorrow 💰🤷
Gotta love the nutty cold war inventions, creating things to just swing willies to say "Mine's bigger than yours!!!!" at each other, really is just playground politics, with actual death on the cards... :P
Taxes are a form of communism... Pretty sure the USA has those. Turns out most successful economies are actually hybrids where we pick the best bits that work from multiple systems.
@@MrYTGuy1 didn't think I'd have to get into the specifics of communism to make a joke. Also communism is a whole ideology otherwise it's not communism. For example socialism is similar to communism, but they aren't the same. You must be real fun at parties.
