When I came to MSU in 1980, I recall learning the fight song, and almost laughing at the line "Spartan teams are never beaten", because we were, a lot, back then. It was several years before I realized the significance of the next line, "All through the game they'll fight". Because I did come to realize it, I appreciated last year's 3-9 team. A lot of teams would have gone in the tank after six or seven games, but MSU fought, and was in the thick of every game, and that same attitude was seen this year. As long as the Spartans remain true to family, comradeship and never giving up, we will be in good shape.
I'm an ND fan but I totally respect and appreciate the environment that Mark Dantonio has created. Being from the Soo, I've always had a soft spot for Mich State. Nick Saban bolted because he decided he couldn't compete with Big Brother. Dantonio just consistently finds the right guys, often overlooked, who bring that blue collar attitude to the field. And any team that consistently knocks Michigan down a peg is alright with me.
