When you play as Guy and talk to Demi in camp she'll ask if Guy has any news from Yang and how he would barely recognize her. We know from the journal that OG Yang and Turkey Yang are father and son. Since you meet Demi in the Ice caves it is safe to assume she met Turkey Yang in Dwelling, so no need to ask Guy for news about him. If she knows OG Yang then they met in Spelunky HD confirming her identity as a damsel.
I see. It still weirds me out how the damsel got so powerful lol. How come everyone in Spelunky can jump their height (Shopkeepers jump even higher lol) and be good at everything

The reason cthulhu is in the opening of the game was because derek initially intended to have cthulhu be the secret final boss instead of hundun. He changed it obviously, but decided not to change the opening for some reason.

2 things. First of all, the van horsing is Abraham Lincoln may be a reference to the 2012 film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The mosquitos dropping hoverpacks is not very complicated. Several enemies have a small chance of dropping items on death. Skeletons drop skeleton keys, crocmen drop telepacks, those big crab guys in tidepool drop metal shields, etc.

feel that the cthulhu symbol on the door in the beginning is representative of Tiamat as when it fully rotates it looks like a woman’s face and the door opens revealing the water serpent body so i feel it was a cleaver misdirected to make new players think that Cthulhu might be at the end
I do think that you shoulda elaborated on the explanation for Ryl'eh, because the Sunken City is thought to be that not just because of the whole Cthulu symbol, but also because of its incredibly strange geometry. Your journal depicts you as going down to the City, but you actually go up into space in order to get there, and it seems that the whole Sunken City has reversed geometry, which is why you have to go up, and water goes up as well. And yet the game seems to imply that the Sunken City is meant to be at the bottom of the moon. The main trait of Ry'leh is its "non-Euclidian geometry" which is a fancy way of saying the way its built is impossible and doens't make any sense, no matter how you look at it. Sunken City is like this too, because Hundun is pure chaos incarnate. Basically The Sunken City is Ry'leh because its geometry doesn't make any sense.

"Non-Euclidian geometry" just means curved surfaces. Euclidean geometry is flat and has certain rules (like the angles of a triangle adding up to 180 degrees). Non-euclidean geometry is any curved surface, like the surface of a sphere; it does not obey the same rules (you can draw a triangle on a sphere that has three right angles).
this is also why the Ry’leh theory holds no merit. Hundun is the chinese mythological primordial creature of chaos, one of the 4 great evils. A place of chaos like the sunken city could very much be it’s doing as no myth containing him talks about a limit to his power of changing the world, making it possible that sunken city is its creation for a hideout
6:14 in the console version of Spelunky, there is an option for LAN multiplayer, where you could play with people in your friends list. It’s probably on their because the PC version of Spelunky doesn’t have online multiplayer or LAN multiplayer, the only way you could play Spelunky online with friends is with Steam Remote Play
I find more probable that Coco is the original damsel and Demi knows him because he and her mother were really close. Also, Coco recognizes Guy and Tina too as far as I know
13:05 HOLY SHIT I THOUGHT I WAS HALUCINATING. I remember watching a video of I think Baertaffy, and I remember seeing a world past seven. At the time, the game had been out for a very short amount of time, so I thought it was another secret to unlock. It's been more than half a year now, and I'm still haunted by the curiosity of it. If anyone cares, go back and check the daily leaderboards of baer in the first bit of spelunky two. I'm 90% sure it happened there.
van horsing is most definitely a reference to can van helsing, which is a fictional monster hunter, vampires especially, likely explaining why you find him in the castle level.
The Leprechaun in a pot could be a reference to Crypt of the Necrodancer, where Leprechauns will appear on piles of gold worth 50 or more, and will give you a lucky clover if you manage to kill them.

It would be weird if Coco was the damsel from HD considering that she would have aged significantly more than the others. It does mention that her family is rich, so she could just be good at hiding her age.
Great video, btw in regarding of the chtulu thing, i found a lot of resemblance between the cosmic jellyfish and another ancient of hp Lovecraft, i don't remember the name, but this type of ancient was far superior than chtulu (and for far superior, i mean that they literally prey on the chtulu species), and are also described as jellyfish like creatures with slimy substance and bubbles that make their body, just like how cosmic jellyfish are.
I think the Van Horsing thing is referencing Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, which is a book about Lincoln as a vampire slayer. They also share a first name and modern designs for Van Helsing (like Van Horsing) have a similar look to Lincoln

You forgot the sloth! If you click on the pug damsel from Spelunky HD 100 times a secret sloth damsel will replace the dog. I always thought this was one of those well known secrets from Spelunky 2 that most Spelunky experts knew about. was surprised to see it go unmentioned in this video.

11:20 other enemies and stuff can actually drop items like the king yeti can drop a freeze ray, bone blocks can drop skeleton keys, croc man can drop teleporters, Pangxies can drop wooden or metal shields but its rarer for the metal shield, and I'm not sure but I think I remember getting a mattock from a mole once.
