I’ve been on the Giza plateau and the sphinx looked out of place with the pyramids. I spent 6 months in Egypt and will never forget the amazing things I saw and the amazing, friendly people I met there.

Yeah about the Sphinx ... I've heard of these theories before. I find it interesting in general, because even if the Bible is some sort of adaption of an actual ancient book, at least in part; I do recall it mentioning a "fertile" ancient Egypt... I'm not suggesting it being exactly 800,000 years ago, but I just find it intriguing at least. I do believe there was at least 1 if not 2 different "Builder" type ancient Egyptian eras. I think the era of the Sphinx came even before the next era that was responsible for the Pyramids and what not. The latter era even mentioning that they did not know how to reproduce the means of making such intricate stone work, as the people before them. So, my own theory is that historians are basically lumping various "items" in Egypt to some of the wrong eras in the history timeline, while some do belong in the latter eras.

The deep grooves on the sides of the Sphinx look like the wave cut terraces around the mountainsides surrounding Death Valley, after the Ice Age lake that filled the basin receded. At Giza, the water apparently went down in stages, punctuated by halts in the falling water level for long periods, just like many dry lakebeds in the American Southwest that date from 12,000 ybp.

It's about time someone is looking at the actual evidence connected to the spinx and this could lead to the actual true history of Egypt

I believe that there was a cataclysmic event that occurred about 11,600 years ago and marked the end of the 1300 year long Younger Dryas cold period. It caused the planet to return to a warmer period but that transition happened in a matter of months, not years, and as such caused world-wide flooding. The erosion that is evident around the Sphynx enclosure appears to have been caused by water as opposed to wind. That said, one would have to agree that the monument's construction took place prior to 9600 BCE. The dating of the flood is supported by the Greenland ice core samples. Additionally, with the excavation of Gobeckli Tepe continuing to move forward, we have learned that human civilization existed at least 5,000 years prior to the long standing paradigm centering on Mesopotamia being the earliest known civiliztion. The monumental "T-pillars" found at Gobeckli Tepe are indicative of a society that felt compelled to create monuments referencing both a specific era and the beliefs attached to society of that day.

I have no doubt in my mind that the stone outcropping the sphinx is carved from is 800,000 years old, probably older even. But when was it carved into something is the question not how old the rock is geeze it's a natural formation for the most part.

Oh yes I so much would love to visit the Quarries of the Giza plateau . That would include the pyramids. The valley of the kings. I wish I would have become an archeologist. I am somewhat of a freelance archeologist anyway. I can't get enough of your show

I think the Sphinxes base is older than the head. I think the head was added during Khufu’s reign. I also think the limbs were also added around this time period. However, I feel the body or base of the Sphinx was a much older piece that survived the floods of Egypt. In saying this, I am not an Archaeologist nor a Historian nor an Egyptian scholar. This is Just a feeling I have had since visiting Egypt’s Pyramids and the Sphinx in 2010.

You really have to be dedicated to Egyptology for so much of the stuff is in museums in Britain, America, private collections, Poland, Germany, France instead of it being in "Egypt".
