The Spin-Echo Sequence. Perhaps the GOAT of MRI Pulse Sequences, the starting point of any discussion on these things we called MRI Pulse Sequence Diagrams and as you’ll learn, a major breakthrough in the quest to turn MRI machines from science fiction into something you’ll trust your health on. Join us as we take a deep dive into this world-changing imaging technique on the latest episode of MRI Physics Explained!

One question, does this means that we only have to pulse the frequency gradient once during the sequences?
@MRIPhysicsEXPLAINED
@MRIPhysicsEXPLAINED 9 месяцев назад
As with all MRI physics, there are the classical teachings and then the modern day application where we do many creative things with gradients that could be many lectures in itself! But it is usually taught that we will turn on the frequency encoding each time while recording the echo. As you pointed out, it seems redundant to have to do this for each cycle as we can gather all the frequency encoding data with one application of the gradient, but it turns out the Fourier Transform is happier when we apply it each time we record the echo. Great question!

@@MRIPhysicsEXPLAINED And of course in the turbo or fast sequences, where we have many echos one after another, the case will differ, right? I mean the order of frequency or phase gradient applications...
