Let’s relax to the quiet (and slightly creaky) sound of my spinning wheel… and other tools 🙂
Unintelligible whispers are mainly at the beginning. However, if you’d like a no-talking version, here it is: • The Spinner | Cinemati...
This was partly inspired by ‪@cnliziqi‬ 's spinning video, but in a slower way, although this video might have a faster / more natural pace than what I usually do.

Please note that no animal was harmed for this video. The wool comes from small local farms where sheeps are considered as pets, shorn at the farm only, and cared for their entire life. The other fibres seen on the set are cotton, flax, hemp and nettle.
Un grand merci à Brigitte et Bruno pour m’avoir initiée au filage de la laine, sans eux cette vidéo n’aurait pas été possible !

Learning new skills for a video is probably one of my favorite part of the process. Learning to card, spin and knit was so interesting and gratifying. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed discovering these traditional crafts! 😃 Thank you for watching. I occasionally knit or crochet as a hobby - something to keep my hands busy while I watch videos or something _(with store-bought yarn)._ This is not only super relaxing to watch, but puts a new appreciation to the amount of effort that went into making wool items in the past. Honestly, up until watching this video, I always thought that the yarn worked through the big wheel on a spindle. I didn't know that the yarn you could see was essentially a 'driving chain.' This video just reinforces one of the things I have on my bucket list: to make something out of wool or cotton *_ENTIRELY_* from scratch.

This is so beautiful, and the energy throughout so deeply calming and peaceful. There are always so many magical moments in your videos, too many to mention here. But here are a few that particularly touched my soul: the haunting intro music with the solo flute melody perfectly captures the solitary nature of what is to come. The moment near the beginning where you are running your hands through the fluffy raw wool and then bring some up to your face to smell it, was so visceral that I felt like I could touch it and smell it too. But it was that final moment that actually brought tears to my eyes: We see this woman whom we have come to know only through this very solitary craft, being covered with a blanket by an unseen loved one, and we suddenly learn that although this process may be solitary, she is actually not alone, she has someone in her life that loves her. Through that one simple action, this character completely unfolds, and suddenly we have a whole new sense of who she is and the world that she inhabits. Please forgive me for going on and on like this. But for some reason this one really spoke to me. 🙏

My granma used to have a lot of wool. She'd make socks for the winter for everyone. Thank you for reminding me of her. I used to clean the wool with her and it was a unique experience!

I am a spinner and knitter myself. I have many spinning wheels and loads of wool, and love having such relaxing and meditative hobbies. Combining the two with ASMR is the best idea ever! Thank you for such a wonderful video! 😊

You have once again outdone yourself, Diane, another beautifully planned, executed, shot, and edited video, you are the absolute master (mistress) of cinematic ASMR 👏👏👏 And I have to say, the ending was just so sweet ❤️

I absolutely love knitting! I am drowning in wool at home and supply all of my friends and family members with scarfs and blankets and hats - if you begin you get addicted in no time. I really adored your video and the take on knitting, thank you so much for that! Knitting and crocheting is a modern way to craft your own clothes and gifts for others, it is sustainable and creative, I can just recommend everyone to try it out.

Wow there’s nothing you don’t know how to do Diane! The sounds in this one are extra tingly from the careful carding of the wool, the spinning of the wheel and the creaking of the wood! We’re planning on having sheep on our farm starting next year for wool, I need to learn how to spin wool from you! Thanks again for an epic video ❤

Ahah thanks Semide, that's an awesome project! I'm still an absolute beginner but I believe the theory can be learned quickly, then all you need is pratice 😀 But I'd be very happy to help if I can!

I remember watching videos on spinning yarn as a kid. This brought back some fond memories.

Thanks for another amazing, relaxing, & creative installment from your fans! ❤️ I almost thought you were doing a Rumpelstiltskin roleplay the way you did with your ASMR reading version. Both he & the miller's daughter would be envious of your speed! If only we can spin straw into gold, the one magical ability I'll (& many) love to have! Thank goodness for the sewing machine since the art of needle & thread is far from easy (& long)!

This video was the thing that finally convinced me to sign up for a spinning workshop and I'm so glad I did! I've spun every day since I took the workshop and it's just as relaxing to do as it is to watch ❤ thank you for the inspiration, and the beautiful content, as always!
