The Spirit of God | The Tabernacle Choir 

i left the church when i was 13 (now 24) because of my parents divorcing and leaving the church. i am at work tonight and randomly felt compelled to look up all these old songs and i'm almost in tears. the nostalgia and feeling the spirit as i did as a young boy is overwhelming. what a beautiful sound.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is single-handedly the best choir in the world. Full stop.

(1) "The Spirit of God" lyrics and music were inspired by God as an anthem of strength for Saints all over the planet,( 2) Mack Wilberg is the greatest chorale arranger on the planet, (3) the Tabernacle Choir ranks as perhaps the greatest 'tour de force' choirs in the world and (4) the combination of #1-3 above is WHY this piece moves hearts and souls everywhere. What a gift to us today to casually listen to this any time we want.

This is one powerful hymn. Singing and shouting with the armies of heaven as the second coming takes place and the millenium starts!!!!!! I know the powers in Heaven, that watch over us are real. They help us to magnify our callings, to repent, to love and care for our families no matter what age they are, they help us to learn of The Lords ways, they help to aid us with comfort, with blessings, etc. I have felt these sacred messengers in heaven on occasions when i have needed help and great comfort. When i visited my 87 year old mother in her nursing home, before the pandemic, i can feel the love and power of her covenant keeping. Oh what a special bond. The powers of heaven are real I add my testimony to this! This song is very sacred and special. So many memories and hopes are attached to this song for me. Amazing amazing song. I know Jesus lives and loves us so personally so powerfully.

This is the one song I memorized and request to have played at my baptism. It was also one of the first songs I played for the congregation when I was called to play the piano in church.

It is an amazing hymn and well sung (and I am not even Mormon). I wish all my children who sing so well did as much daily singing of hymns as I did at school. We are in danger of losing all that children learned through hymns, throwing the baby out with the bathwater and not necessarily anything to do with God but about singing together, harmony, music, community,....

What a great blessing to live in a time we can invite the Tabernacle Choir into our homes and have the blessings of the Spirit they bring with this beautiful music. I am so grateful that the Church of Jesus Christ embraces good technology and that it can be used to improve and bless our lives. Bringing this into my morning scripture study helps me feel the Spirit of God.

About the best hymn by the Tabernacle Choir. I came across this hymn about 1990 and have sung it uncountable times ever since then. Glory to God and the Lamb, even as we mark the Resurrection of our Christ today.

When you go to Kirtland, Ohio to see the Kirtland temple take the tour offered by the Community of Christ. At the end of the tour, the guide will usually give anyone that plays piano the chance to play The Spirit of God on the Piano. They give a great tour by the way.

My mom is a violinist in the Orchestra :) She's been in for more than 20 years, and she loves it so much. It's been a huge blessing in my life to have music in my family, and to watch her perform so many spiritually uplifting songs over the years. I love music!!

If this was the only evidence that this Church is the true and living Church of Jesus Christ, I’d still be in it. This song is EVERYTHING.

This song will always have a special place in my heart. I had the opportunity to participate in the dedication of the Rome Italy temple, where we sang this song after doing the Hosanna shout. I also participated in the Hosanna shout during the April 2020 General Conference (where I'm pretty sure we also sang this song) and I got to wave the same handkerchief on both special occasions. I absolutely love this song. On a separate note, one of my friends once said in a sacrament meeting talk, "The Spirit of God like a furnace is working." This really hit me, because sometimes I don't think I can feel the Spirit, but when I'm in a situation where I can't feel the Spirit, I recognize that I do feel the Spirit, I just don't notice it sometimes because that feeling is so constant. Hosanna, Hosanna, to God and the Lamb, henceforth and forever, Amen and Amen.

My father told me that he would sing this song to me in my crib when I was yet a baby. I'm grateful for the news of the true gospel present again on the earth

I first heard this song when I was in an Iron Lung after being stricken by polio. Years later, while playing football at the University of Utah, I was walking by a Church and heard it again. I walked in and sat through the service, eventually becoming so impressed that I joined the LDS Faith. It's a decision that changed my life and has brought nothing but happiness to me and my family 😀

I’m not if the Utah Saints but I cannot deny the beauty of their choir. I don’t know what I think of Joseph Smith, but I’ve experienced the power of the Book of Mormon firsthand and would that EVERY Christian would read it and keep it near. The Book of Mormon belongs to Catholics and Baptists as much as it does to the Restoration Movement - God has given it for and to all the nations of the Earth, the duty falls on us to live its teachings.

What a magnificent church to have a choir that is known throughout the world. Even the nonbelievers love their music . This is truly the Church of Jesus Christ on Earth!

No song on earth can be closer to Christ and his God and when sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, It is like the Anthem to proclaiming Christ himself and a witness to the world of his divine kingdom .

I love this hymn, and especially this performance. I see the soloist as representing Joseph Smith, who testified alone at the beginning of the Restoration. Then there were other witnesses who joined him. Now we as a Church and as a people are called to share the gospel and gather Israel in our own neighborhoods. Thanks for this wonderful music!

I have some of their music somewhere i bought many years ago i must get it and play it, listening to this choir has really lifted my spirits up, it has made me want to sing which makes me feel happy and healthier when i do so i must get on with it, this music is out of this world, thank you.

I learned not long ago about the man who wrote this hymn. His name was William Wines Phelps. Joseph Smith loved the hymn so much that he had the words imprinted on white satin which he strung up, and the hymn was sung at the very first temple dedication. Ever since, it has been a tradition to sing this hymn at temple dedications. This isn't very much information, but I encourage people to read about William Wines Phelps and how he joined the church, grew, fell, was forgiven and returned. It is a story of warning that even the best can fall, but it is also a wonderful story that sheds more light on Joseph Smith's wonderful character and on Christ's willingness to forgive those who earnestly seek after him and repent of what they've done.

If you have had the privilege of hearing the choir in person the power of the Spirit is absolutely incredible. The Spirit of God penetrates the soul and fills you with such peace.
