The Spirit of the Samurai - Interview with Publisher Kwalee - EGX 2023
In this video, I have the pleasure of chatting to Kwalee, the publisher of the fantastic upcoming Samurai Metroidvania - The Spirit of the Samurai. I had a blast checking out the show floor demo of the game, it was a game I was very excited for based on what I had seen of it in its trailer, and was fantastic getting to go hands on with Spirit of the Samurai, and it felt great to play.
The Spirit of the Samurai is bringing together lots of very cool elements, with its visceral atmosphere, metroidvania game design, and great feeling 2d sidescrolling combat. In the game you will take control of 3 different characters at different points in the game; The Samurai, A Kodama, and a Cat - all of which bring different gameplay elements to the forefront.
With its stunning visual presentation, The Spirit of the Samurai was a game that instantly caught my eye when I saw its trailer earlier this year, so I was very excited play it at EGX 2023 - at its very first public showing in Europe - and was very excited to find out The Spirit of the Samurai gameplay feels awesome.
The Spirit of the Samurai is being developed by Digital Mind & Published by Kwalee - and it is coming to PC via Steam & Epic, and also Atari VCS. With the potential for other platforms tba too. It is targeting a release window of 2024.
