I highlight everything that the Sportsman Masters 247 has to offer as well as my likes and dislikes of this boat after owning it for a whole year! My Instagram: jacob.jenkins1
Great video! I’m researching my next boat so I can fish and then take the family out. I too live in North Texas. It’ll be lakes only. Hoping it’s not overkill but the price for what you get seems like a great value. How is the build quality on it is my only question. Thx.
I really enjoyed the boat. We don't have it anymore. It was my families boat and they decided to sell. I primarily inshore fish so to me, a skiff was a better option. If you primarily offshore fish I would say the sportsman open is a better option. If you do a hybrid and don't need to get uber shallow like 5-8 inches then this is an amazing boat. Very family friendly as far as seating and comfort. Great front deck for fishing. Build quality seemed solid.
How does this boat ride in chop, on bays that are 15' deep? I fish lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. It's about 15' deep, but when the wind kicks up, the 3' seas are brutal. There aren't really swells, just brutal chop. My 22' Sea Hunt bay boat is great, but I'm looking to upgrade...
Jacob- I am from Apopka, Just ordered the new 247 which wont be in until june so it will be a 2023 actually, with the second station. What is the shaft length of the trolling motor on yours, i have a 54” ipilot was hoping it will work.
Great video! Quick and to the point. I'm circling a new 247 now and want to strike, but I have to at least swim by a few more brands. Great advice about the trailer. I'm thinking about some GemLux outriggers instead of the Half Tower. After having it for a year, which way would you go?
It holds great!!! Tbh most of the time I just use the trolling motor and spot lock. But when going to a sandbar or fishing in certain areas that are shallower it holds amazing. Only benefit of having 2 that I see is being able to position the boat facing a certain direction. Where as with 1 it just goes whichever way wind or current points it
Thx for the quick reply. Just ordered my 247 yesterday…think I’m gonna start out with the trolling motor and see how that works…can always add the Power pole later. Appreciate the help!
We do! I've been on a boat that doesn't have it as well. It definitely has more tone. (Better bass, can hear the different levels) The boat that didn't still was pretty dang loud and wasn't like "bad" sounding. As far as it being worth it. I think that just depends on how much music means to you on a boat 😂
You could either have a different prop, haven’t found the right trim or their could be an actual defect in the hull. I’d contact your dealer and see if they will hop in the boat with you.
I know for a fact i've put my 7 foot rods in there. I think maybe a 7'2 but if I remember correctly my 7'6 didn't fit. Don't quote me on that yet. I'm out of town and get home tomorrow and can check for you!
