Always carry a 2 litre of petrol so that you have fuel and can travel with peace of mind. I use the 2 liter cococola bottle but the one without the rubber seal airtight on the bottle cover. Use the one designed that uses only the self plastic cover
Bro u guys consistently impress me with the way u eat with hands. Literally most foreigners i know struggle eating with hands. But you guys are pretty natural.
I like how simple these tourists are... Unlike many other (mostly east Asian) tourists ,these guys enjoy the local food , people and environment nicely without much complaint, and looks like they have done some research abt culture, local prices before coming to the country. I wrote this bcz i was truly amazed by how pleasant they are about everything... I saw another vlog where those people haven't done the research and calling the local people scammers when they just sold something for the local price itself. These guys on the other hand respect every person they meet...Have fun!!
We really appreciate your kind words. We are just normal people and enjoy the simple things! Foreigners usually just make videos for views and money, they have no interest in the country or learning anything which is a shame!
However i’ve never seen them tipping the poor vendors who sell to them at local prices nor do they offer anything in return to poor hospitable locals who go to lengths to prepare and give them food, drinks or services for free. Just a thank you , bye bye! and walk away.
@@sammurphy4122 Why would we tip? This isn't the USA... If people give you something as a gift you don't disrespect them by giving them money you clearly haven't travelled much. We'll carry on having nice interactions with people and making friends while you enjoy your money obsession, life isn't a transaction. Plenty of other channels you can watch that donate to poor people on camera purely for views and making money for themselves ahah what a world.
I love the way you treat people, you accept that people are different countries and cultures are different too , they all have good and bad things but literally we all are humans ❤️
18:57 Kithul(Jaggery palm) is a different tree mainly grows in wet parts of the island. This is Palmyrah very iconic to Jaffna and they make a different kind of Jaggery from that tree as well
So impressive Jaffna.love from central sri lankaI visited jaffna when i was just 6 years old but I can remember that trip still from start to end. Also you guys are really kind hearted and humble.God bless you two and triple gem bless you
Brilliant video. I was a small child in 1967 when we went on a family holiday to Jaffna. Kayts ,Mulativu and KkS were some of the places we went. The holiday was amazing.
Great to see you visit the less visited parts of the country. These places have natural beauty but not enough people visiting to see the views and hospitality🇱🇰🔥also in Tamil you say thani or thanir (tha-neer) for water 💧
Wow , an Easter Monday feature length film haha . David Attenbough move aside . The temple you stopped at on the way to the ferry is called Mankumban Muragam Temple . Original choice to visit Eluvaitivu island. Most people visit Delft Island to see the remains of the Dutch fort and the Queens Tower or go to Nainativu Island to see the Nagadeepa Temple . Eluvaitivu has a few meanings in Tamil , one is the island of landmark and is only 1.4 sq km . Around 15 years ago the people suffered from hunger and life was extremely hard because apart from fishing, the islanders relied on selling Palmyra palm products but mainland traders stopped coming to the island . I see you visited the solar power plant in the south , the Muragan Temple and the Hindu mayanam beach right in the north.there is one school on the island and that Catholic church is called St Troma's which was apparently established in 1875. The village where St Mary's Church was is Kayts .the Portuguese called it cais meaning pier but the Dutch gave it the name Kayts .it was originally called Oorkawatthurai according to ancient records from 1178 A.D . Milo was developed in the 1930s during the depression in Australia as a direct response to the fact that children were not receiving enough nutrients from their daily diet.Thomas Mayne, a Nestlé Engineer, created the beverage using local milk knowledge and Swiss cocoa expertise. He named the drink Milo after the Greek athlete Milon of Croton, who was known for his strength .you don't see it in India as Horlicks and a few other manufacturers control the market. Nice video.
We went purely because nobody in Jaffna could tell us anything about it aha can't beat an adventure. Appreciate all the info you are the main man how do you know everything in the world ahah!
@EllisWR it was an interesting insight. somewhere off the usual tourist routes are always appreciated. I have been interested in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan for many, many years. It is such a deep, diverse, and fascinating history.
Every time i finish watching Ellis' video, i come here to see if Stefan have commented. I love learning about these things, would love to pick your brain. Please never stop my man 🧠 ❤📙
So impressive Jaffna.💐love from central sri lanka❤I visited jaffna when i was just 6 years old but I can remember that trip still from start to end. Also you guys are really kind hearted and humble.God bless you two and triple gem bless you🙏
Having been to Sri Lanka myself, What i absolutely love about these videos is you explore less visited of the beaten track where tourists probably wouldn't be taken, away from inflated prices and expected begging/tipping!! - When i visited Sri Lanka, we were taken to all the touristy areas in a car / elephant sanctuary / temples / visit to tea plantations / restaurants etc but not socialise with the locals and was strict where we could/couldn't go. I recommend touring Kenya if you haven't yet been, Nairobi is an experience and the many villages and national parks!!!
I enjoyed watching your videos, I saw how you are enjoying adventures in our country, I think you are doing a great job reminding us how beautiful it is and sharing it with the world on RU-vid, you are such a nice couple, wish you all the luck and lots of joy on your future adventures 👍
Wonderful Video Bro. I did this trip twice as a young teenager and three years ago with my kids. It is a good recall of my wonderful memories of Sri Lanka
The reason you find a difference in all fruit juices is because Sri Lanka is the 1st country in the world to go 100% organic farming across all types of farming.
What you can experience is that it is the poor people in remote villages that are very hospitable and offer you whatever they have to make you happy not expecting anything back in return. You cannot expect that in cities as much.
Hey mate! It is Sunday and I'm currently having "me time" with a bunch of beers and watching your videos back to back. You guys are awesome for responding so quickly. Keep up the great work and more power to you!💌🍻
Man this was so enjoying. Married to a SL lady since 19 yrs back, this vlog gave me so much. You dudes made it, just show where I want to be. Me, from Sweden, and been there like, what? 20-25 times.. Not been there since the pandemic. This summer I will. Watching so many vlogs from there to get a grasp of the feeling you have ftm. Wish I hv the time to do all the stuff I've seen through the vlogs. You are legends to show the unknown stuff. Dont ever stop. Thank you. Keep it up. Subbed. 🙂
1:05 Since you're up north, I'd say my fave bird-watching spot in SL has got to be the Vankalai sanctuary in Mannar, which is a couple hours south of Jaffna. Absolutely magical stuff, I'd recommend going there in the winter to catch the migratory flamingos
I think tourists should look into the history of the Jaffna city before they visit it. Jaffna had gone through so much in the last decade and stood strongly all thorough those tough situations . Really a fighting city ....
Mutton curry and paratha one of my favourite combo food ever bro. Next time have it with rice, mutton curry and ask for mutton rasam. U will love ittttt.
Taking us off the beaten track Ellis and Alicia (or across the sea). The birds were wonderful, and those huge bats, wow. What a good day, giving me itchy feet for more travel adventures.
Hey guys.... literally You reminded me that I miss my country. I live thousands of Kms away from my home. I really my food and people over there. Necto, cream soda, kottu, pittu oh gosh my favorites. Really miss those delicious food 😢
There are many parts of the country such as this. People usually head to the beach, central mountains or the dry zone national parks to see elephants and leopards. Basically places near other interesting places. There are areas that tourists don't usually go because of traveling time (bendy roads) or due to isolation (not many popular interesting places near).
Nice to see your RU-vid . Great to see you in Elivaitivu/srilankA. I am living in uk /Nottingham but my parents were from Elivaitivu. Will be watching and sharing.
Good to see the north, we may go there next time. Loved our trip, Rekawa Beach area on the south coast was stunning but we loved everywhere. We shall enjoy watching the rest of your trip, seeing places we didn’t get to. Still laughing at the “blind people throwing litter at the bin” comment in previous video! 😂
Haha that's wild, I stayed at Tony's garden house last year when I was there too!! Such a nice guy! Memory of that trip was driving to the ferry, missing the boat by one minute, and then driving around looking for fresh toddy from the guys that climb the trees. I eventually found someone that sold it, ended up just giving it to Tony after trying it haha
Ahah he is such a chill guy isn't he. That's a class story ahah! We went to a toddy bar the other day and Leesh got kicked out, toddy tasted like pure gas and hell
You Guys are doing a fantastic job. My Memories go back to a few years back. I Had the privilege of travelling North (Nainativu). Amazing. Enjoy Your Stay.
One thing about the plain tea you had in the shop. Due to the fact that jaffna is a more deserted place, water in there has a metal taste. So you may taste that in your plain tea. Btw jaffna people consume more fresh milk because there are lots of cows in there.
1:22:19 the fudgy sweet is mysorepak if I am right and the round ones are laddu. Mysorepak is from Mysore,Karnataka. Both are made from gram flour ghee and sugar.
@@EllisWR Miss your tamil nadu videos! I know some places and spots in Tamil nadu and if you visit and capture such places, it might help you to boost views I hope...
Nice video! wonder what is the capacity of the old boats, they pack them up.. funny how a fishing island has no restaurant serving fish?? Kites fish food was great, not sure about Lankan crab curry which normally is a tad spicy!😋
You should have pay and asked you stay to cook crab curry for you. And the bones in your curry, mostly if you eat in a house or a very local place in Sri Lanka please be aware, we cook with bones. It makes the curry more tastier. Any kind of meat, bones got the most of the flavour. That’s why any western cooking use bones for the stock. Enjoy sir..!!
Of course the bones are flavour we prefer that meat! But not small invisible pieces hacked up in a dish, it's just laziness or not taking care. Better restaurants don't do this 🙏
Palmyrah trees in the north & coconut trees in the south of the island. So if you are looking for king coconuts in Jaffna, you are going to pay a bit more due to transport costs. Have you tried the palmyrah toddy yet, which they even export to the west in bottles & cans calling it palm wine? Unlike the south they also make arrack from distilling palm toddy instead of coconut.
It sounds mad but the best thing Sri Lanka could do for development is legalise recreational cannabis. The impact that has on tourism is phenomenal when you look at the numbers and it gives the farmers a very valuable crop to produce.
@@EllisWR very good. Tomorrow we go to Colombo. On thursday, back to germany😥. SriLanka - what a beautiful country...🇱🇰. We hope you enjoy your trip. (how long is it?)🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♂️
Ah... bc we eat with our hands, we can feel the bones while grabbing it from the plate so it has never really been a problem here. I understand it's new for y'all. Be careful next time😊
@@EllisWR Indigenous Sri Lankan Tamil dialects from the north and east are different to South Indian Tamil dialects, with far less English and Sanskrit and other language derived words. We never say use words like Romba, a lot we use the pure Tamil word Mika or Mikavum, Jasti a lot in Indian Tamil dialect but we use the pure Tamil word Kooda koodatham etc. Indian Tamil, especially Chennai Tamil is very corrupt and sounds very rude to us. Our Tamil is much nicer more respectful, and far more archaic. At least this is what my generation spoke. It only in the central parts of Sri Lanka where you get lots of Indian origin Tamils or in Colombo, where again a lot of Indian origin and Muslim Tamils live, Indian Tamil dialects predominate, and they use words like Romba which really is not a Tamil word. I do love your videos
Leish have you had a go on the bike? Did you take a video of the condition of the bike when you picked it up? Do you Reckon it's safeish on the roads. Looks great! 😂
Leesh would crash us ahah she crashes push bikes every time we're on em!! No we don't do that never had an issue really outside western countries everyone is always sound, people don't even ask for deposit or passport usually just pay and go which is great. Always had good bikes too just get them from reputable people or small family business! Just speedo never works ever its a rule i think for rentals in asia
46.36 solution for this problem> dont send plastic to sri lanka. that message from woman is if you send plastic to sri lanka , we pollute ocean , sky and jungle. that mingling crows... is sri lankan culture crows and dogs are treated equally. that s why we provide food for both we say it ' dog and crow offering' , ( balu kaputu daanya.)
