The stairs in Kalithea are unavoidable if you want to come to the beach. Or if you are located along the beach, and you want to go to the city, you will have to use the stairs. However, there are two roads, with a small uphill slope, where you do not have to use the stairs, but you will definitely have to overcome the climb. For Kalithea is situated on an elevation, above the sea, and is in a way separated by a kind of rampart from the beach and the sea.
When we were exploring Kalithea and looking for suitable accommodation, we found out about the stairs, but we were unable to find a recording of them. The forums talk about stairs, but we had no idea if they were steep, whether they were too strenuous and whether they would stop us from flying because of them. It's not, and you can see in the video that an older lady with a stick uses them without any problems. So don't let them hold them back if you're thinking about whether Kalithea is the right choice or not. You will definitely work on your fitness and the strength of your heart muscles. Take it easy and everything will be fine.
We counted a total of 100 steps, but these are not exactly the right steps in the terms of the height and width, they are more addition, like to make the descent easier. You go through the shade all the time, thanks to the lush vegetation on both sides of the stairs.
Just don't forget about the other stairs, there are more than 130 steps, their beginning is accross the Masoutis store and the end at the left side of the beach. If you are interested how they look, go to following video:
