I was in college, at Emmanuel, along with many other frustrated women, when this came out. I got to know the area while listening to this song on my transister radio. Thanks!
On this day in 1967 {January 28th} the Standells performed "Dirty Water" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... Nine months earlier on April 28th, 1966 it entered the Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #11 and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100... Fourteen years later in 1980 the Inmates took their covered version to #51 on the Top 100... The group's one time drummer Dewey Martin passed away on January 31st, 2009 at the age of 68... R.I.P. Mr. Martin and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...

Boston is sacred treat it as the gem of the East Coast that it is no litter, no scribbling on sidewalks,no graffiti, thank you be good little boys and girls, BOSTON IS THE BEST PLACE IN AMERICA 🇺🇸, WITHOUT THE PATRIOTS OF MASSACHUSETTS,THERE IS NO AMERICA. With the Irish,French, and our colonial residents!!!,!BOSTON STRONG
Started with the Red Sox and Patriots, who play in Foxboro, but no Celtics or especially the Bruins. And I think the Garden is closer to the Charles River than Fenway. Anyway great song!
You forgot the Celtics hat. They've won the highest % of championships in any sport. Love that dirty white boy -Larry Bird - Trash talker on the court and could back it up !!
As college hoop announcer (and yes, I know, former NBA coach) Dick Vitale used to exclaim ..... AWESOME BABY, AWESOME!!!! How did you learn that? What website?
No one Cares about him! Yes we had Some Athletes Who were Bad role Models and Good Role Models but I Think the Good Role Models Should Win and get to Play Sports!
It's great, but the irony is that most of the images show Boston after the dirty water went away! (Boston is a clean and uber-prosperous place now, which is nice, but doesn't fit the time the lyrics were written in.) I'm a Gen X New Englander - I remember dirty old Boston and clean new Boston - the current version is better, but it's funny sometimes with this song, because the grit doesn't quite fit.
