I'm curious about this. I think I've mentioned, I don't do 5e (or any D&D), but it's not usually hard to convert stuff to other games. Looks like some cool material to mine, for sure. I'm a long time fan of Atlas, especially Over the Edge and Ars Magica.
Good review Jeff, always appreciate your insights and reflections. I still find 5E as a system is mechanically hobbled to really leverage a lot of the content but that's no fault of the book. I'm saving money for Atlas' Ars Magica crowdfunding later this year!
I loved Atlas Games 'Northern Crown and 'Nyambe'. Lot of thought ĝoes into gameplay, ancestry, class and culture design. 'Nyambe' is still a great sourcebook for anyone interested in an African-style campaign. I'm going to keep my eye on this one.
I'm working on a one shot for my players to intro the setting where there all young (low level) tribe members being sent out on their first scouting/gathering assignment while the rest of the tribe sets up camp. I'm going to give them some traps and gathering supplies, throw some potential big prey in their path and a new god demanding a sacrifice etc. Brief, low level encounters that lay out the premise and a few major worldbuilding bits. Pretty excited to see how they like it.
