Leave this kid alone. He did amazing on National television. Could you do it? Keep doing your thing kid, you’ll continue to do great things with your life.
Waaaaay better than I could have done at that age. Ya'll ratting on the poor kid and he's only 11. I'd like to see you get in front of thousands of people at age 11 and try and play the Star Spangled Banner. As a trumpet player myself, I can second the fact that it is a lot harder to hit high notes when you're nervous. I'm sure he can nail those high notes when he's at home practicing.
Sorry, but did you not know that an important battle happened in Baltimore, and it also is the city where the US anthem was written, you clearly don’t know US history.
Guys, the kid's _11._ He will not be perfect. This is actually pretty good for someone his age! He had the confidence to go up there and play, unlike many of the people that are freaking out in the comments. Seriously, give the kid a chance.
As a trumpet player myself, I think that it’s amazing that he had the guts to perform at an MLB game. But, he should’ve stuck to one octave. Great tone though.
After reading the comments before watching, I was expecting something awful, after watching, the kid has great tone and got a little nervous, I thought it was lovely!
He played it fairly well, but yes. Doing what he did chopped it up too much. If you can’t do the whole part up the octave, don’t do part of it. Just doesn’t sound good. But fairly good performance overall.
Can't blame him for not trying in front of literally thousands of people. Yeah he kinda fumbled it near the end but it wasn't bad as a whole. So chill guys, he's still pretty young. He'll get better and better over the years, and I know how nerve racking it is to perform in front of thousands of people watching you.
Everybody in this comment section needs to stop and think could you do that? Not just play the song but perform it in front of thousands of people. The vast majority of us could certainly not. If you have nothing nice to say don’t say it so that the rest of us can appreciate their talent. Just because we only see them playing this song does not mean they can’t play anything else. Instead of criticizing and pointing out their few mistakes why don’t we talk about all their great points in the song and how brave these kids are!
Guys stop saying stuff like the high notes were bad or it's horrible the notes are the way they are and the high notes are supposed sound a little quieter but he did good you can admit that
It wasn't that bad y'all I was surprised at how full his low register was but when it came to the g he cut it short I get that he changed the key to g but I mean who doesn't want to play the national anthem up an octave
Honestly I am age 12 and I just started to play the trumpet last year and I am already hitting high Fs above the stack idk how y he dropped down the octave
Nope, he plays like there's a balloon in his horn, only redeeming quality is how high he goes, other than that it's like he's playing a joke on someone that hired him.
Late comment but yet this kid is good and all but he doesn’t add life to the song at all other musicians play it with their hear he just played the notes straight and square.
Why does a Major League Baseball stadium not even have an American Flag? The gigantic flag waving over the stadium doesn’t even have close to 50 stars.
