We plant our vegetables into our newly built garden. Vegetables include, tomatoes (roma, beefsteak, Brandywine), peppers (jalapenos, Cayenne, Bell, Banana), Strawberries (Tristar, Tribute), Squash (acorn, Butterbush, zucchini).
Most of our seeds were purchased from Totally Tomatoes, Baker Creek, MI Gardner, Burpee Organics and we also purchased seed starts from a local nursery.

Love the garden, you guys will be very busy come harvest time. You should have plenty of peppers to make your hot sauce and or salsa. Very nice work. My Favorite is when your precious daughter looks at daddy and give him that smile. Oh how sweet. Thanks for sharing this amazing journey with us. You will enjoy watching all your videos years from now.

Glad to see the supervisor show up to the job site. When she got vocal I could not tell if she approved of the job you and Tina done with the planting or not.

I collect my hot peppers during the season and store them a zip lock bag in the freezer. One plant can give you enough for hot sauce. I usually make about a pint at a time. I just take enough peppers out to make the pint and have a supply in the freezer for the next time.

Interesting. Never heard of doing that. We will hopefully give it a try this year!

Two things to remember: Blood n Bone. Liquid Seaweed/fish fertilizer. With seed propagation always check dates on packaging, date packed and plant before date. Not all vegetable seeds last forever and keep those moisture absorption packs ya get from different orders and store them with your seeds, also open bicarbonate soda will remove moisture.
@TriStarHomestead

Good idea on the absorption packs! Never thought of that.

My first year on strawberries i got 2 or 3 per plant. This is my second year and im looking at about 10 per plant. I wont eat them from the store either. Taste 100 times better when you grow yourself!

Great job! Do you need to fence in your garden? Can't wait to see the middle of their growth! Big changes... The Baby is so cute! Thank you for sharing!
@TriStarHomestead

We hope not. Rabbits and deer would be the big predators to the garden and we have never seen a deer in this part of our property. It’s wide open now too with the clearing so I doubt we will see one. Rabbits are around but our dog keeps them at bay mostly so hopefully they don’t do any damage. We can add a fence if we need to.

Where's the fence to keep all the critters( rabbits, squirrels, opossum, and racoons) out? Your in the country remember.

Rabbits could be an issue although my dog has killed them on multiple occasions, we have only seen one opossum in that area and it is when we had chicks and it was overgrown, never seen a squirrel around here and raccoons have only been seen recently and on the complete other end of the property. Needless to say, I think at this point we will take our chances and see what happens. We can add electric net if we need to.

Can't figure out why you decided to plant your tomatoes so close together? I also am wondering why you decided that was a good role for your tomatoes they are going to get very tall and wide creating a lot of shade for the rolls next to them. Looks like you might want to put up a rabbit fence around your garden.
@TriStarHomestead
@TriStarHomestead Месяц назад
No matter where we put tomatoes wouldnt they be tall? If we put them on either end of the garden they would still take some of the Sun away from the rows next to them. Also, most of our tomatoes are determinant so they won’t be super tall and we don’t plan to plant the same crops in the same row every year so eventually the tomatoes would be in that spot.

Please take care of your back. Your baby is way to heavy for carrying around and work with her. You will have a hurt back ,when you are older.
