The bit here about "manual updates" on CI servers is misleading. Every CI run we do at my day job installs the CLI fresh, with the latest default point release for an installation, which means if the repos are up to date then your deployment interactions are also up to date. Moreover, even if you had CI jobs that were more static, you could still automate the CLI updating itself regularly. This just sounds like a GearSet marketing ploy, not a real analysis of CI/CD solutions for Salesforce.
