Boyfriend and I love your videos! We currently live on Staten Island, you stated that our one train does not run often, not true. It runs quite often and has express trains during rush hour. Its a very interesting train line and the last stop in Tottenville is considered the most southern tip of New York and it is really charming. It you ever do a Staten Island video, the biggest secret about our train is that it's practically free. There are only turnstiles at the St. George stop and the second stop which is Tompkinsville. The rest of the stops you can get off and on the train for free 😊
@@w.iraheta3769 So worth it. You’ll enjoy it and all the photos on the walls are fun to check out while You wait. You may see Adam Sandler in there You never know who. I haven’t ever bothered anyone in there but it’s still cool af just to see them chillen If I can catch them stepping outside then I’ll ask for a pic but not in the restaurants. Pete Rose is the only person I’ve ever bothered while sitting @ diner tables waiting for our foods. He didn’t have His food Yet so I asked for a pic real quick and He said sure Then He talked Baseball with Me for like half the time He was there. Dude was cool af. Whole other restaurant though. Lol If it’s Your 1st NYC visit You are going to be surprised by how small most establishments are , like not a lot of room . Everything has sellers, all open everywhere . Also if You want to have a cocktail then I recommend Nurse Betties , especially weekend nights , hotties Its on Norfolk The Lower East Side. which is just a little more uptown from Mulberry St. / Little Italy 🇮🇹 My sister happens to be in NYC RN for 4 or 5 days She did the Harry Potter Broadway Show last night and loved it, She says it’s Great. ✌️ Brother Have A Great Time I know I do . But Stay aware , especially if visiting The Bronx , especially around Yankee stadium. lol ✌️ 🙏
Since I am cheap and hate "planned activities". I generally take the SI ferry to take pics of the harbor and Ellis Island and Lady Liberty. I find that more relaxing than waiting around for a tour to finish.
My Dad was a Mate on the Staten Island Ferry back during the Lindsay administration and way before. My brother and I as kids took a couple of rides with him during his work day. Great time and memories. Enjoyed your video showing what a great ride of New York History.
from north jersey and used to work in the city doing storefronts and millwork. The feeling you get walking through that much history and knowing you're ignorant to most of it is unlike any other. Love the explanations and how everything seems to tie together.
Another banger of an episode. The Juan Gonzalez attack from the 80s scarred me to the core as a kid, I was afraid to ride the ferry for years after that one.
Before September 11, 2001, you didn't have to get off the ferry when it docked. You were able to ride back and forth all night if you wanted to. I have to say it was a very romantic ride on a stormy night with my ex girlfriend. One night I sailed in a blizzard. It was very exciting as the ship rocked from side to side and jumped as it hit ice caps floating in the water. I still have an unused admission ticket for transporting my motorcycle which as you stated carrying vehicles was terminated after September 11, 2001. Is it safe? Ask Marshall Mathers (AKA) Eminem, who was mugged on the Staten Island Ferry after doing a show at the Lane Theatre on New Dorp Lane in Staten Island during his early days of his career. Maybe look up "Staten Island Ferry fights" on RU-vid.
I grew up/born raised new dorp beach......way back when the hangers were still there,, before they turned that part of Miller field into an ice skate rink. and its not "staten island", its "statnylan"........
Native Staten Islander here. Coach Barberi was my HS PE coach. He was known for his very foul mouth (by 1973 standards). Your commentary was excellent!
This June, I'm making my first trip back to America and New York in a blink over 10 years, as part of a very-slightly-late 50th birthday present From Me, To Me (oh, thank me!) with, oh yeah, seeing my emigrated kid sister and her family then too - and sure, This trip I'm going to take the Staten Island ferry at least once. City ferry rides can be great - I'm very fond of the short but dramatic Hong Kong island-mainland ferry link - so I'm looking forward to this ferry ride, and seeing Manhattan gradually rising up in front. (Sounds silly to say maybe, but mentally I still miss the Twin Towers - gone before my first every visit to NY/America, but mentally still ghost-seared in my brain as part of the New York skyline.) So, cheers for the fun video - Subscribed! - which was ferry entertaining indeed. Ah, dad jokes...
We visited NYC for a week recently. There was this short Hispanic guy going off in the ferry terminal. He said he had sold his soul and he was in flames. He got on the ferry and started arguing with a cop. F bombs were flying everywhere. Once we got to Staten Island a woman was just inside the terminal after getting off the ferry yelling about Jesus Christ. We were barely in NY for a few hours and had already had our fill of the crazies.🤣😭 Besides that, the trip was pretty good. We enjoyed ourselves
I wish I had watched all of your videos before I went to visit. I would've gotten more out of my short trip there. I did get some beautiful pics from the ferry. Thanks for your fun videos!
around 95' or so, I saw that a guy while on the ferry died in the bathroom while shooting up some heroin. I remember thinking, holy sht, imagine that's the last place you see.
I once witnessed 2 Russian women push a stroller off the back of the ferry. There was no baby in it, just 2 enormous stereo speakers. And just yesterday a guy threw a shoe at my car in The East Village. It rebounded and smacked him in his chest though. Karma i believe that is.
ears ago, my friend rom Brooklyn took me on the Staten Island Ferry. It was a nice trip but when we got to the other side went back to the other boat for the trip back and we didn't see any of Staten Island. Maybe you can do a video on the sights on the island.as well as the local train.
didn't realize it was large- lots to learn. sad ferry stories. i was last on ferry when got a paper ticket[?] for a nickel...free back. i think. in the 60's. youtube is my transport now.love hearing about young entrepenors.
I always tell my friends to skip the statue of liberty and Ellis Island and just take the Staten Island Ferry. One solid hour of relaxation in the NYC harbor. It's free too. Just saved you like $50.00 and you still have energy to walk up to Ground Zero.
I lived on Staten Island from 1990-1991 so never got that luxury of a free ferry. Moved back with the family in 1992 and then I left NYC. Darn a dollar short and a day late. LOL
Welcome to the promised land of Cauffee and donuts...lol. i was born in SI.... Love the video Tom.❤😁☕🍩 My uncle lost his false teeth on the ferry.... true story.....lol.
That would be a good video. Tom would have to begin it by carrying a paint can and eating a folded slice of pizza while walking down the sidewalk in Bay Ridge.
The stadium is still there. The Yankees are gone, thankfully, but there will be an independent team called the Ferry hawks this season in the Atlantic League. Great views of the bay and Manhattan from the stadium.
When did you film this? I was staying in the Hilton Garden Inn across from that Staten Island Ferry at the end of March. I looked at it out my window every morning.
Went to Wagner College for one year and modeled in nyc years ago. It was never reliable in the winter and I missed out on gigs and classes because of bad commuting. Messy. My career went no where lol
Good video as usual. Little thing though, car transport was suspended because of work on the terminal if I remember correctly before 9/11 and just never returned. I’m sure that was because of 9/11.
