A country railway station with more than a century of service heads into a new era as the home of a very unique railway heritage museum.
From the outset in the 1890's, Pahiatua was provided with quite a substantial railway station, goods shed and yard with about four yard tracks or sidings as they are known, plus several smaller dead end extensions to these for various purposes.
The station building itself was built to the railways standard ‘Class 2’ design , which was fairly large and an indication that the district was expected to grow and provide substantial business in the future.
