Last Night i played Batman Arkham Origins on High Settings and 60 FPS on it for like between 3-4 Hours. Brightness and Audio were like 20% each but other than that, the experience was amazing.
@@wilson2317 Bro, of course I know that many people deny this, but I can just download the emulator and get an experience better than the Nintendo Switch player (for example). Stay chill
@@mrducky179 Their price is probably because they don't have the budget to make their own factory making parts exclusively for themselves. Instead, they buys it from other manufacturers. Valve on the other hand.
@@mrducky179 other companies prices will drop drastically, and for multiple reasons. 1) the majority of why steam deck is great is because it’s the first handheld to have access to AMD rdna2. Within a few months the other companies will have that as well, gaining performance while also being more battery efficient. 2) steam deck doesn’t have to buy windows licenses which cut costs. Other companies can also start using steam OS for free which will, again, let them sell for cheaper. 3) interest in handhelds is going to skyrocket, and when there’s more customers you can buy more in bulk from manufacturers and once again, lower prices.
You know 10 years back, I use to daydream about such device where you can play pc games in a portable manner like psp. It seems so wonderful to see that technology creates reality that once we taught to be whims of imagination...
As somebody who owns a lot of the pc gaming handhelds these days, this performance is very comparable to a lot of the modern ones that are 3x expensive. Very impressive. Literally I'd say the only device that will out perform it will be the Aya Neo Next, but that one is practically 4x expensive. But hey, word is they already have plans working on the Steam Deck 2 once the original steam deck orders are fulfilled. I'm so glad we've reached a point where someone like valve can make these so affordable for the standard consumer market. Edit: This comment is very dated. Obviously, there are much more powerful devices out nowadays, That clearly “can” beat the steam deck these days, but requires a far greater wattage to do so, so it kills battery and potentially has loud fans. Excited to see where we go from here. Clearly Steam will eventually make a follow up too, but glad to see that GPD, Aya, OneXPlayer, and others are still in the mix and offering different styles and options if the Steam Deck doesn’t suit you, and you happen to have a lot of expendable money.
All of the reviews I’ve seen bench these show the SteamDeck handily beating all current gen handhelds by leaps and bounds, except for 1 or 2 that match it at twice the TDP and 3x the cost. It’s absolutely wild
@@shlokshah5379 Unfortunately it’s probably going to be a long time until something like this will ever have the ability to swap out parts for upgrade like a desktop, probably never. Anything pre-built like that is always destined to be surpassed by something else in the near future. Technology is always advancing.
@@Daktyl198 You are right, even though some of my devices work just as well if not slightly better in FPS and settings, they are at a much higher TDP, meaning the Steam deck battery would last longer too.
An interesting thing for those that do not know. The stutters are ususally the steam deck compiling shaders. The more shaders get compiled the more they get shared. After being shared you download them along with the game. This helps with performance.
If a game is not on steam would that also hold true? I mean for example, sifu is currently an epic games store timed exclusive and currently has severe stutters on deck, if more people play the epic games version would it solve the shader compilation stuttering? Or that only happens if the game is on steam?
@@thephantom9080 Shader compilation and sharing is a feature from the Steam client. You have to enable it. As far as I know, EGS doesn't have this feature. Shader sharing is a great feature. I always use it while playing on Linux with Proton, it helps smoothing the gameplay a lot.
The fact this small handheld can run Cyberpunk better than my 2070 at launch is speaking volumes both about the Deck and how much better Cyberpunk has gotten in terms of optimization.
@@lilmoris1 You obviously don't play enough video games to have encountered truly poor titles. It missed the mark with being as revolutionary as it claimed but it's a fine game, hardly garbage at all.
Yeah that's the most impressive part. This is all just out of the box without any tinkering on the developers parts. Imagine if devs actually worked to make these versions run even smoother?
Gta 5 is highly optimised, its so optimised that even low end pc can run it in atleast 30fps, so this is not such a big surprise but still impressive asf

I love console system UIs, they may seem insignificant, but they play a big role in your perception of the system and the feelings you have towards it The PlayStation 2 for example felt out of this world, yet so harmonious and beautiful with the sounds, it really gave the system a specific feeling I think the steam os ui is very good too, I am excited to try it out on just the UI lol

No such thing as unnecessary talks, the world doesn't revolve around you, there's content for people interested in the technical aspect of it (specially because the steam deck is a technical feat) but also content for people who just want to see it working straighforward.
pretty incredible that they're able to get AAA games running that smoothly on a handheld device, and for a relatively affordable price none the less. I'm guess their strategy with the steam deck is to sell it at a loss, but balance out that loss with the profits of selling games on the steam platform. pretty awesome, if they did that sort of approach with desktops they could probably sell desktops cheaper than custom builts pcs. crazy to think about how much more the future holds for gaming
@@aryangupta6186 it's $100 more than the only other competitive handheld, the Nintendo switch, and is capable of pc level quality and modding capabilities. For only $100 more, it's pretty damn impressive
@@LiamSCL Yeah compared to other handhelds. it is worth its price. Although its gonna cost me an arm and a leg to convince my parents to lend me some cash.
@@DeamonSlayer1337 incorrect, bruh. Most games I've seen are running at high/medium. 800p isn't bad on such a small screen. Heck the Switch games look amazing when they hit 720p....lol. Which is rare.
The Steam Deck will change the whole panorama about PC Máster Race and the Console Gaming, is beautiful and efficient, maybe kinda chunky for being a handheld console but is amazing (Valve, a Steam Deck Lite or Slim please?)
PC master race was always a a gag. For some reason people make it out more than it is. It's obvious just looking at the steam survey which says less than 0.4% of all users having a 3090 in the 2 years it's been on the market, yet over 3% have a 1660 ti and over 8.4% have a 1060 yet which is a 6 year old card.
Thank you for showing games other than Doom Eternal, Forza, and God of War. Those are excellent benchmarks, but I'd like to see what else you could throw at the Deck.

Black Ops 3 Modded Zombies is honestly a hidden gem on the Steam Deck! I get a smooth 60fps on max settings with fsr 5 and can play for hours. Menus are a bit laggy tho, but the game is buttery smooth
This is a really impressive piece of tech , the only downside is the screen . Portable PC gaming on the go is something I could only dream of until now .
@@ybeef5883 True, but one benefit of that tradeoff is that it can go way dimmer than really any of the other competitors currently, good if you plan to use it late at night.
Back in the day, the best you could bring to school was Pokémon Emerald on GBA. Now there's AAA games that can be played in your own hands. Time sure flies.
I would not buy it, but I am glad that the equipment can run a very large number of games. I respect and wish you good luck in developing this technology.
ye but for the price of 420(nice) bucks I think it is still a great deal and if it ran on 1080 I think it would really decrease the FPS of games on the steam deck
I'd like to see if it'll ever dethrone the Switch in Japan, since Japanese people are mostly into handheld/mobile gaming nowadays. It could happen, like how Apple dominated the smartphone market in Japan. Valve would need to do some aggressive marketing though.
Well ouch, I didn t know the fan noise would be so high pitch. You can t use that in a train without getting some wierd looks. I hope a software update can make the steam deck go quieter.
Yeah, the gaming industry really needs to figure this out. All gaming laptops have this same terrible high pitch noise. There are ways to make fans not make this noise, but every single one that I have looked into has this issue.
I think I would! You can even emulate some Nintendo Switch games on the Steam Deck already ! O.o ThePhawx has a good video of switch games running on the deck
@@mrbust999 u can emulate the new pokemon games. lol ppl were playing them before they were even released on the switch because they got leaked. nintendo is a joke company. hf paying 90$ for mobile games
Isn't the resolution very low? Won't the games look blurry? I know its small, so pixels are more concentrated. But we are also seeing from near ( as it is like a mobile phone). So the effect will be same as a 192081080 laptop from 3-4 feel distance.
I think DigitalFoundry nailed it when they said it is like "a PS4 in your hand" PS4 like performance (assuming either native Linux or Proton compatibility) in a handheld.
Console gaming has always kind of had the trend of the handhelds being a generation behind the consoles, but with that trend, more or less, dying with the 3ds and vita, seeing it now is just plain cool.
Well it's slightly below PS4 in general. In God of War as he showed, it only held around 40fps at 800p. That's a tad below the PS4. Still, very impressive for such a small system.
@@mushroomheaification I noticed that usually, it takes 10 years to "match" a home hardware with a Mobile device. Take a look at the snes and the gba, The ps1 and the DS, the ps2 and the 3ds etc
Love the fan noises, I'm weird about hearing the fan, I always wanna test the structural integrity of small devices and consoles and their fans. Your attention to detail is excellent!
Right at launch. This console is good for playing Offline/Singleplayer games, but for Multiplayer is quite no. It has to do with Anti-Cheat software so it'll take time for sure. I definitely wanting to buy this console, unfortunately it doesn't sold on my country
It depends on what games you play. FFXIV works perfectly fine on it. SWTOR is fine. It's only the goofy ass bastards that use some kind of flaky anti-cheat that don't work, and there aren't that many MMORPG's that use it. Wife and I play No Man's Sky and FFXIV together all the time. She runs Windows 10, I run Linux Mint. No problems. If they can get enough of these out there in the wild - then the anti-cheat crap will have to get updated to be intelligent enough to discern between a different operating system and an actual cheat attempt.
@@MandrakeDCR Well since I mostly playing online game using keyboard and mouse, I wanted to play singleplayer games using this console. For examples Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher, Minecraft with shaders, Half Life, and some PS2 emulation
Looks so good. I think I will wait for the next gen steam deck for improved performance. Hopefully it has Zen3 or Zen 3+ cpu technology. But Im Impressed. Also improvements to FSR can take this system really far.
I can't imagine how gaming industry has went so far. Like imagine playing next gen aaa pc games on the go while you're Travelling or relaxing on your bed. I just cant wait how gaming would be in the future. Maybe portable VR?

This is the ultimate portable gaming device. It does almost all things better than even the switch, tho I have to admit the switch still better at local multiplayer BUT! The performance, the price, the style. Valve knows how to make a great device if they really try. I'm saving up for one right now and I can't wait to buy it! Edit: Nevermind, I just learned that the steamdeck can support multiple controllers. The steam deck is superior in every way

Got a steam deck oled 512gb for $300 CAD and it’s arriving tomorrow I am so stoked I got one for that price and can’t WAIT to start playing some games on it
I'm honestly surprised that the system can run Elden Ring. Obviously, smaller screen isn't going to need the settings to be as high as with a desktop monitor, but seeing it running games as high as it was was a good sign. It'll hold itself up for some time, even if not playing many higher end future games at their highest settings. My curiosity comes from it being able to play games that don't run off of Steam, like some games do. I know Child of Light requires UPlay (or Connect, or whatever it is now) and Star Wars: Fallen Order requires Origin. Does it still allow the play of games like that, or would those be keep-away games? Also for games that just are on UPlay or Origin, is it possible to download those launchers to play them? I know Steam has said it's pretty much a Linux computer, but I've never been sure, and I see it run a lot of games that don't necessarily have Linux support.
I hope steam deck 2 is bezelless. Obviously a more powerful processor. 1080p or more with oled. I really like what they did with the Steam deck v1. I hope they don't change the look and feel of the deck 2.
I reserved a steamdeck right when valve made it reserable, and everyone was saying how it was stupid because it cost too much, nobody would buy them, and it wouldn't be able to run any games. Well, it seems that 512gb steamdecks are selling for $2,000+, and have great performance.
The only thing that makes me afraid from buying steam deck is that most developers would not bother to program their games to support this system or optimization to run smoothly. I trust that this system is strong. But optimization is also important.
