Fine cut indeed and impressed with the run time but at over £2000 for that set up with two batteries it’s just ridiculous

The Fully Charged Gardener yep I have six of the battery tools and three ap 300 batteries built up over past three years , the batteries are good but way overpriced for the amount of run time you get , the hedge cutter runs for the longest at about three hours , the pole saw is good because you never use it for very long and the chainsaw and blower are fine but I am not impressed with the mower as it eats through batteries and I have reverted to my honda petrol which can run most of the day on a tank of petrol , the main advantage with batteries is the noise levels are very low but as for costs you can certainly buy a lot of petrol for the £200 cost of a ap300 battery

I need to get my head around this as I'm from Australia and moving to the UK. Would you mulch an area like that if given the option and are Zero turn standers commonplace in the UK? An area like that would be done in 15 minutes on an appropriate sized stander
@TheFullyChargedGardener
@TheFullyChargedGardener 2 года назад
Hi, We used to mow this area with a Kubota F3680, with a mulching deck on it. I started mowing this area with this machine as I wanted to test it, long term, with regards to battery life etc. this machine leaves a way better finish than the ride on ever did. this mower also has a mulch kit, but I wanted to bag the grass, to test the machines collecting capabilities. Standers are becoming more common here in the uk. thank you for watching

I’m converting to battery power. I have a few tools and I have a rma448tc which all get reasonable run times. I would like to get one of these but I would need four ap300s batteries and access to a power point for charging. It’s the future

Quick Question: With those big castor-type wheels at the front - how do you get to the edge of a typical lawn? (Square for example) If there was a wall, you’d hit it with them and if there was a garden bed, the wheels would drop off into it - scalping the lawn?

Taking off 20-mm of grass in dry conditions in Eco mode is not a real world test. Try it in the wet with a 30mm+ cut and see how long the batteries last in non-Eco mode

I have the Stihl 510. Everything about this 2020 model is impressive - except for the handle. I don't like it. It looked excessively wobbly during the mow. The least amount of energy and force transferring to the operator, the better.
@TheFullyChargedGardener
@TheFullyChargedGardener 3 года назад
😀 Thank you for watching. The area I was mowing gets a lot of traffic over it for weddings and events, so it is very bumpy - I was also travelling at the mowers full speed. I think any mower handle would move around. it really is a comfortable machine to use. I absolutely agree with what you say about energy being translated to the operator. Thank you for commenting 😀

I'd buy a decent second-hand car for that price: €2000 (inc batteries & charger) I fully agree with Sthilboy56 , he has a great point in his comment below. I'll stick with my Stihl 448 petrol. Great machine but WAY WAY over priced.
@TheFullyChargedGardener
@TheFullyChargedGardener 4 года назад
It may seem expensive, but every £ spent on a battery is an investment - will give you years of use and you can use the battery to power other machines. Every £ spent on fuel is just burned. Battery mowers offer something special by being so quiet. Around schools, hospitals etc - so that extra investment in battery could potentially win you a contract. Money well spent 😀

@@TheFullyChargedGardener Some more sales arguments for you: Since switching to a battery mower (Stiga Combi S 50 AE), I find excuses to use it a lot more. Like 2-3 times more. I cut more often and I collect leaves, clear brush and weeds in wooded areas, where I'd use other tools before. You can stop as much as you want without wasting fuel idling. While the battery holds less energy than a full tank of gasoline, the more frequent use over a year, summer and winter means it applies more Wh of energy to landscaping than a gas mower would over that same year. The mower is now 6 years old with zero maintenance needed on battery or motor. It has never been taken apart. Battery has around 300 cycles on it and is only a bit weaker than when it was new, but it still charges like new and is always ready for work every single day. Today I discovered that you can get a new battery with 40% more energy in it and ability to deliver more power. If I decide to get the new battery, it'll be like a new mower, and then I can cut every day, until I'm exhausted. It'll be the longest lasting mower, we've had in the family.

@@TheFullyChargedGardener Do you use it weekly through the cutting season? Have you had any kit fail that you use daily yet? If so do you replace motors etc or just have new? Do you have the kit given to you by Stihl? I'm at a point where I love cordless no question, but machines keep failing and it is costing a fortune to keep replacing. A motor and control unit costs £30 more than a new complete msa200. The new long reach cutter, replacing the failed one already after only 5 months keeps intermittently cutting out. My kit is stored indoors in a room with a dehumidifier. As you have all the kit are you able to give me a proper account of your experience or will it just be what Stihl wants you to say? I can't be the only one to keep having kit fail. The first hedge cutter had sparks flying out of it and it was only trimming fine growth. The cable melted on holster whilst using the blower. Another two hedge cutters motors stopped working, chainsaw just stopped whilst cutting a twig! A battery won't charge, Stihl told me to bin it and buy new. I took it to a friend who is one of only.20 experts in batteries in the UK. He took it away and analysed it and said a £25 circuit board was at fault, only dropped 10% efficiency. Stihl don't offer repair but just the attitude of buy another. With that attitude expect and outlay of 6k+ then minimum of 2.5k in the next 4years in replacing, from my experience. The equipment is fantastic to use, some big design flaws in places, clearly not actually tested by professional grounds people who have to make a living everyday come.rain or shine but you work round that and it's positives outway the negatives. However for professional use it is not fit for purpos. It has cost me far more than petrol kit. I had the rma765 lined up to buy from a dealer but stopped when I had a spate of machines failing in row. The mount of plastic going in landfill from this cordles is going to be huge. What machines of yours have failed?

The batteries are an investment. You think - every 💵 of fuel you put in a machine, is just burnt and gone. A battery can last you years. These very quiet battery mowers are perfect for areas where noise is an issue. Schools, hospitals, nursing homes. Or just places like where I work. Large private homes, where as the gardener - you kinda wanna be seen, but not heard. And then there is the reduced number of service parts. There is definitely a place in the market for battery mowers 😀

@@TheFullyChargedGardener Li Ion batteries don't last forever, they degrade over time and using commerically will need replacing every few years at a significant cost, way higher lifetime cost over a petrol mower

Don't know about? Do you disagree that lithium batteries degrade over time? If you don't know that it appears u are the one that needs educating. It's a well known fact.
@Woola89
@Woola89 6 месяцев назад
I never said I disagree with degradation of li-ion batteries. It's just far slower than everyone thinks. My first batteries I got 14 years ago (used commercially and on a daily basis) are just as good as they were at the beginning. And why would they degrade any faster? There are a lot of studies out there pointing out that battery technology lasts a lot longer than expected. Now, I guess you'll come up with someone you know that had a battery for just 2 weeks and had to replace it... Well, you know, there are people buying new petrol mowers (or cars) and destroying them too. Crying afterwards about bad manufacturing...it's always a matter of how you treat your stuff...

Be very careful with Stihl electric mowers. I bought a Stihl RMA 448 TC last year and it's probably the worst lawnmower I have ever used. Yes it's fine if you want to cut really short grass that hasn't grown much, like in the video above but if you try to mowe any grass longer than 3 - 4 cm the blades simply stop!! It has absolutely no power and it cost me €600!! I wish I'd never bought it to be honest, I should have got the ego electric mower instead.
