God Robert was GORGEOUS 😍😍...I remember seeing him in 1968-69 filming a 🎥🎥 at Sears Point raceway...he was watching the race...standing on the roof of a pickup....no shirt...tan...mirror 😎😎🕶️...w a toothbrush in his mouth!! ..he saw mean my friend and waved to us and smiled...had NO IDEA .....till we saw the movie.... I'LL NEVER FORGET that vision ...EVER!!! ....we were like 15-16yrs old🦋🌹💖😵😵🤯
Actually....it was much to easy for Erand boy to change plans especially with all that money still owed.. it was a major tell that it was a set up.. in fact I assumed it was a trap.. but of course the mark is is not that bright..
1) Your kidneys are in the back, not the front. 2) If you meant to say "liver shot", that would be on Redford's front right side. Shaw hit him on his left. 3) If it had been a true liver shot, Redford wouldn't have gotten up.
Agreed. The character mannerisms are perfect for a wealthy, but socially unrefined gangster. The limp, the way he eats are subtle indications of a "tough" life on the streets.
@@dang1861 And that “limp” was a fortunate circumstance for this role, pain and discomfort aside. Robert Shaw had actually injured his leg before the filming started, so that limp is the real thing.
0:26 That is where we see Shaw's weaknesses, Pride and Wrath. Hitting Kelly after he just ratted out his boss and told Shaw about the cheat is just dumb, but his pride and wrath get the better of him.
its just a little too unbelievable that shaw would extend any trust to redford here, half believing his story. Apart from that the film is believable all the way thru.
"Take him back to the baggage cart and put one in his ear!" then go back and get the other GD son of a bitch and we'll dump him in the first tunnel we hit! classic, could watch this over and over.
Exactly!!! Without this character we wouldn't have Quint. There's a lot of Quint energy in Shaw's performance as Lonnegan. He even sounds like him when he yells or screams
Here's the part I don't get, when Kelly says "I want to take over his operation and I need you to help me do it" all Kelly was was Shaw's errand boy, how did he know that he was ever going to meet Lonigan to say that to him ? If I was Lonigan I would have been suspicious from the start from Kelly's comment.
Not if Shaw was planning to beat Lonigan's game for months. Stands to reason they'd do a little opposition research, Kelly gets an idea to put something into action that he's been working on for a while
I’m trying to work out if this is bad acting on RR’s part or intentional direction to create an obvious divide between the good, in the know character, and that bad guy who’s being set up in order to make it clearer for the audience?
Ya of course Redford was the Pitt of his era or of course I only mean by his look obvious Redford one of our finest actors jeez they look alike ...Pitt always wanted to be Redford always looked to Redford he loves him he acts like him too. Ya what a movie
The scene after this is the one where Kelly meets Lonnegan n the drugstore to make the first $2000 bet. But before this meeting Lonnegans "torpedoes" miss killing him. So why doesnt Lonnegan ask Kelly how he knew his torpedoes where n Kelly's room ? Lol. AND........How did Lonnegan know where he lived to drop him off, cause n other scenes, a address is given, and how did the torpedoes git n the room, it was locked !!!!!
A good movie for sure, but you can tell it was made with a low budget, a certain cheapness about the look about it, more like a very good made for TV movie.
