Fact: Bible has old and new testaments which contradict each other . Belief system has no place in front of all religions as all of those contradict one another. Ultimate truth: Lets seek it but do not decide with our tiny minds.
@martialgamers
@martialgamers 4 месяца назад
@@user-eh7pn4tz2e The Bible has no contradictions. Where do you find contradictions? We seek the ultimate truth and all religions try to answer it but contradict one another. A Man 2000 years ago told us that He knew it. He claimed to be God reavealed in the flesh and He claimed that He really loves you, He wants a personal relationship with you and that if you decide to put your faith in Him, the Kingdom of Heaven will be yours. If we look at all the evidence: Arquealogy, dates, consistency withing the texts, the main 4 eyewitnesses of Christ (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), the 500 eyewitnesses of Christ's ressurection that claimed to have seen Jesus of Nazereth alive and beleive in it so strongly that the Romans murdered them not for beleif but for what they claimed to have see, prophesies, etc. One of the most compelling ones is the 500 eyewitnesses of Christ. Phsychology shows that one does not die for what he knows is a lie. Many will die for a lie, but none for what they know is a lie. Take the Watergate scandal for instance. Those five burglars and ex president of the Unuted States, Dixon, reavealed of their plans when they found out the prison time they were gonna face. Life in prison. They completely snapped and all was known of the true side of the scandal. Nixon even resigned (the first U.S president to do so) to protect himself. Those 500 eyewitnesses had nothing to gain for proclaiming Christ. No money, no popularity, no support, and a brutal death. There is more to cover but I'm at "work." May God bless you mister. He loves you forever and ever and even thougb He knew their would be those who would deny Him fully, He still called for them to come to Him, because He truly loves us all, more than we could ever imagine.

@@Leonidas_PapadakisI see that you have commented multiple times throughout this comment section. So I ask why do you harbor ill feelings towards Christian’s? You seem to judge Christians and their belief as something to look down upon. “If you are pained by any external thing, it is not this thing that disturbs you, but your own judgement about it. It is in your power to erase this judgement about it. If anything in your own nature gives you pain, you are who hinders you from correcting your opinion” M.A I quote this not as a judgement towards you but as a reminder to self reflect on why it is you feel this way towards these people and to reflect on is this course of action to see if it is indeed proper.

@@robinhoodie8999 You are mistaken; it doesn't bother me. I actually take pleasure in reading about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and pointing out the flaws to believers. All three religions have their fair share of questionable ideas, and discussing them is quite enjoyable, especially in this modern age where science and knowledge have advanced so much. Some people still believe that Noah saved two animals of every species in an ark to survive a flood and repopulate the Earth through incest. It's quite entertaining to have these discussions with Christians; they seem to be so "enlightened" 😍.

Considering that God is omnipotent it's safe to say that the Stoic way of thinking was God inspired just as Abraham, Moses and the rest of the prophets of the old testament. It's especially important that we all acknowledge that Jesus has always been there as well, one with God working and creating our world and we His creature's. Everything comes from one source. Unfortunately even evil although it was never God's will. It was by pride and jealously and free will.
@Leonidas_Papadakis
@Leonidas_Papadakis 9 месяцев назад
Let's reflect on the fact that Christianity has been associated with numerous atrocities, such as the Inquisition, burning at the stake, Christian wars, hindering scientific progress by persecuting scientists, and imposing itself on indigenous peoples. It never formally apologized for these actions, and some argue it should be banned forever.
@user-tu6ie3gy1o
@user-tu6ie3gy1o 8 месяцев назад
Evil itself is not a substance that comes from God. Evil is going against God, against what God designed to be. This act or activity is evil. As such this activity is not from God. Freewill granted the possibility of this activity. If you still say but it's still from the same source, well, that's freewill itself.
@Leonidas_Papadakis
@Leonidas_Papadakis 8 месяцев назад
@@user-tu6ie3gy1o God is often portrayed as vengeful and egotistical in various accounts-an entity perceived as horrible, jealous, vindictive, selfish, and sadistic. One instance is the punishment of Egypt's firstborns as a response to Pharaoh's refusal to let the Jews leave. Those who doubt God's existence are said to face eternal damnation, leaving Eskimos, indigenous Amazonians, and Papua New Guineans supposedly condemned. Despite granting free will, the narrative includes catastrophic events like the flood, resulting in the loss of numerous animals, plants, and human lives. This portrayal depicts a rather questionable character.

The God found in the Abrahamic religions - Christianity, Judaism, and Islam - is not in line with Stoicism. This deity appears judgmental, possesses an inflated ego, and is often perceived as unfair. If you delve into the Old Testament of the Bible and the Quran, you'll encounter a deity portrayed as judgmental, even monstrous at times, and exhibiting egomaniacal qualities. It's clear that these religious texts do not align with Stoicism.
@jamesgarlick4573
@jamesgarlick4573 9 месяцев назад
@@Leonidas_Papadakis that is your perception being limited by your biases. I recommend keeping an open mind and explore a multitude of religions and philosophies to better understand yourself, stoicism, and human nature as a whole. Do so without a judgmental mind, but instead a curious one.
@Leonidas_Papadakis
@Leonidas_Papadakis 9 месяцев назад
@@jamesgarlick4573 I accomplished that task while maintaining an open, critical mindset. Let's examine how the God in the Old Testament displays characteristics of egotism. For instance, He inflicted plagues on the Egyptian people and took the lives of their firstborn because Pharaoh refused to release the Jews. Since this is the Jewish God, it's expected that He would show favoritism toward His people. He also demands that we all believe in Him, threatening eternal damnation for those who don't. This means that even remote communities like the Eskimos and people deep in the Amazon jungle may be condemned because they never had the opportunity to believe in this judgmental egotist. Moreover, in the Old Testament, God won't sanctioned the practice of slavery. If your slave is Jewish, you're instructed not to keep them for more than seven years. However, if your slave is not Jewish, you have the right to keep them indefinitely. Shockingly, it even condones the mistreatment of slaves, permitting physical abuse. If the slave doesn't die immediately from such mistreatment but succumbs within three days, there's no culpability, and everything is considered acceptable, without judgment.

@@Leonidas_PapadakisOT is a history of Jah, the god of war. Culturally, the Canna ties worshipped “Jehovah”. I cannot understand it all and sometimes listen to a Rabbi who gives some pretty good lectures on the OT. I learn from many, keep what makes sense and dispense with the rest. The Apocyrpha was taken from Scriptures, there are many things we just won’t know or don’t know no matter how much we hope to. We can learn or at least respect many cultures and faiths. I simply go by my own standard of “Follow no man”, because o had been in the WatchTower of Jehovah’s Witnesses when I was young and they were insanely controlling and even so, that experience taught me Wisdom and critical thinking. So I’m open-minded now, hopefully not judgemental, but am still learning, ever-learning. I don’t like cynicism or disrespect, those are as bad as a cult. He knew when to speak and when to remain silent and when to question, debate, and when to weep. He conducted Himself well and deeply loved. I often wondered how He spent His growing years and adult years up until the time we hear of Him. I believe He educated Himself by not only His Heavenly Fathers Words and Inspirations, but by Philosophers and Great and varied minds of His times. He retained what to Him was truth and discarded from men what was sensible or beneficial. Stoicism I believe is the closest man has come in attaining divine truth. Jesus is that truth made manifest revealed to mankind. He isn't just partly stoic; he is that and more. I am sure the stoic philosophers would have rejoiced had they come to know Jesus.

I just discovered this video this morning. It really helped me with something I've been struggling with... the whole logic and reason side of stoic philosophy versus my faith... Well it wasn't necessarily my faith that was struggling but more so me questioning whether or not I should really be delving into stoic philosophy like I am.

What have you mentioned here that is scriptural... you seem to have misunderstood that Christ was God incarnate and did not read the teachings of any one, except what was in scripture. He was here before creation... get into John and re-read 1:1-8 he created the world, what would he have cared about stoicism for? He lived a life that reflected God's will for all men. And his work here was to save mankind... stoicism, really?

I also posted this reply in your recent question asking whether Jesus was (possibly) a stoic, and if Christianity and Stoicism are similar. I thought I'd share it here to: In general, humans are more similar than we are different. Because of this, I think it becomes easy to draw similarities from any two things; if you cherry pick information. Though, I think that Stoicism and Christianity are fundamentally different. Christianity believes in, what they claim, is a certified and true higher power (God), that commands them to live their life a certain way, or else suffer an eternity in suffering (their perceived hell). Christianity also removes a lot of the "search for life's meaning", as it claims to know the ultimate meaning: Believe in God, and serve him. Stoicism is about deeper levels of introspection and understanding of ourselves, our environment, and our ephemeral existence. And through using this information, and self-reflection, creating a greater understanding of how to live a more valuable, productive, and meaningful life. Stoicism doesn't claim to know the answers to life. It just creates a pathway to ask questions, learn, and hopefully grow. Now, I imagine people could try to cherry pick what I've said and try to draw similarities between Christianity and Stoicism, to better justify their own beliefs, but once again, fundamentally, at their core, Stoicism and Christianity are very different. - edit - As for whether a man named Jesus could be considered a Stoic? I think that's irrelevant. Once again, anyone could cherry pick instances of what Jesus supposedly did and perform their own mental gymnastics to create an idea of a "Stoic Jesus", in their mind. But more importantly, what would it matter? I'm sure that many people throughout history, from bakers to famous generals, have all, at some point of their lives, undertaken stoic practises and beliefs; even without calling it "Stoicism". To them, they were just living their lives. So, perhaps a man called Jesus did things that might align with Stoicism, at times, but that wouldn't make him a stoic. I'd also like to point out that people often look for information to reinforce their own beliefs. It makes them feel more resolute in their ideologies. So, I'd imagine many would like to try and make connections between their religion's martyrs and prophets, and Stoicism, to manufacture increased confidence in their own beliefs.

Now, my admiration for him has grown even stronger. Massacring Christians: A blemish on the reputation of Marcus Aurelius, Rome's 'enlightened emperor.' Despite being celebrated as a 'philosopher-king' known for wisdom and fairness, a dark chapter unfolded during his rule, marked by the savage torture and persecution of the martyrs of Lyon in AD 177, who were subjected to gruesome deaths by wild animals.

This is very good , I enjoy and can explore whilst different there is indeed a deeper human bond , that faith , and reason gives mankind. I am so blessed to have grown in the West where these thoughts of reason and faith , were the bedrock of our society .... Sadly our society has forgotten both Faith as in Christianity , and transformed faith into being " nice " ... and the manly , reason and thinkers of Greece and Rome , about being strong resilient and having dignity , have been usurped by a " feminized Emotion based , reactive " theocracy ...that serves neither man or woman ... with any useful tools , only hate , revenge and reating " victim classes " , not teaching Faith or Reason ...... We need more Men teaching and being Men !!

Thank goodness that the Western world has moved away from the judgmental shittery of Christianity. Millions of people have suffered due to Christian atrocities, such as burning scientists at the stake and persecuting gay men and women. Unfortunately, in some African Christian countries, they still resort to killing gay and lesbian individuals through stoning or hanging, which is a deeply troubling and unjust practice. It's disheartening to see the stark contrast between the lavish lifestyle of some high-ranking church officials, like the Pope, who travel in private jets and indulge in luxury, while millions of people continue to endure hardship and suffering.

They both believe in a higher power Stoicism believes in polytheism and Christianity believes in theism. 😮

Jesus repeatedly told his followers to not be afraid and yet we see him sweating blood before the cross. When I saw that I realized- he was not saying do not FEEL afraid because who can control their feelings, but to BE afraid is to believe your feelings as some kind of higher reality than your values. This is whe I understood what Jesus was saying - trusting God is trusting his instruction and goodness above what we feel, fear or perceive - it’s about walking in what we KNOW to be true, even when all our senses tell us otherwise. This is all Jesus himself could do because the Bible says he was flesh and blood and tempted in every way. So when God says do not be afraid - he is not telling you to control your thoughts or feelings, but rather to bring them into subjection to the truth that in Christ you have nothing to fear.
