High quality audio. This was the last single officially released during The Stone Roses' lifetime.
"Crimson Tonight" was a live recording of four tracks culled from Second Coming, played during a concert at Pairc Ul Chaolmh, County Cork, Feile Festival, Republic of Ireland August 1995.

It's criminal that the Roses never performed daybreak on their comeback gigs.

Wish they'd played this live in Dublin in 2016. What a tune! Love the higher tempo compared to the album version. Reni, Mani, Squire and Brown all sound so tight as a unit. EDIT: just realised it's Maddix not Reni. He did a decent job here!

@@charlesdarwin7710I still don't get how you say Maddox is better than Reni? When Reni played on the album ya complete and utter wetwipe. Reni invented the sloppy but incredibly tight drum style. When I used to see the roses in the 80s, Reni was a POWERHOUSE live. Maddox can't touch him🤣🙌✌️

this song, he's talking about the history of the struggle by black people against racism- Sister Rosa Lee Parks, forever in our hearts, and about how we all must come together to fight for justice. and then he sings- as i sing this song, someone just got rolled on- he's saying that even though he's talking about things from the past, it's still right now happening, And i just hear him sing this now, and i think of George Floyd, getting rolled on, and I realize that that is what Ian Brown is on about. there's no fucking flies on Ian Brown. When he goes to sleep, the sheep count him. Keep on keeping on! Keep on keeping strong! Ian Brown is for the Dreamers and it's funky as fuck I was at this concert in Cork in '95

One of the better live versions. Maddix is tighter. He's an unremitting, funky mother but the whole thing loses top marks because there's no Swing to the tune. Reni made those skins dance, man. Valiant attempt though.
@kingcolumba
@kingcolumba 6 лет назад
And the stone roses that made their cash (deservedly) by doing all those concerts were not the stone roses. The pish they recorded is witness to that. Aiden Moffat hit the nail on the head when he said it sounded like really bad oasis.

Tbh mate i get what your saying, i don’t think he’s better than page or page better than john, i think he hets compared to page to often, so what if he plays similar to somone he loves, squiers got a fair bit of his own style that sounds nothing like page, don’t think folk get that.
@neilus
@neilus 3 года назад
@@craighughes-shug6694 i just don't get the whole Squire - Page thing...I mean dude...just sound like John Squire, its not too bad! If you were insanely talented like JS why on earth would you want to sound like a different player? His page influenced stuff is great but I much prefer his playing on the 1st album when he was much truer to his own style...
@Longpigmss
@Longpigmss 8 лет назад
Not listened to this for a long while. Makes me miss Reni though, imagine Reni on this tune live. The cover art is fucking embarrassing though. My 2 year old does this on Microsoft paint. I see the first part of the song with the singing on it is lethally quick so Squire has more time to wank his guitar!
