@orwellianson I did watch the entire video, I'm pretty sure we BOTH know that he just is mad Kevin has money but actually supports the pdf files. He reeks of bad faith and selfishness. He needs to never step foot on the internet again and definitely quit trying to make this happen. He was never any good at it anyway. His research is bad, his analysis feel like a huge waste of time that says nothing new. Someone lied to him and told him his drivel was good at some point and caused this.

I saw this at the Pioneer Theater (RIP) when it came out. It left me a little conflicted: so much of the acclaim at the time was around the length and isolation of the effort. I'm an artist who works alone and believes in the value of personal process (in contrast to Damien Hurst or Jeff Koons), but the nature of film almost demands collaboration. This video helps me reevaluate that 14 year-old viewing and I'm looking forward to the follow-up effort.
@tiadoran
@tiadoran 27 дней назад
As a one-woman stop-motion animator and horror fan, this is inspiring and exciting! Her description of her work process is highly relatable. My projects can take years (never as long as 13 years, though), but I think I'm able to stay with these projects for so long because I'm using them to process my own experiences, much like you described with the live-action film at the end. I also enjoy the feeling of creating magic and being something like the god of my own universe. From wire and felt I can create the illusion of a living entity and from a series of images I create the illusion of life, movement and time. I think stop-motion animation gives artists freedom to express epic visions without a movie-size budget.

"Film is a collaborative medium" is a phrase that live action people and big studios love to throw out there as if it was impossible for one person to do it all. As if in filmmaking you HAVE to concede and accept others ideas to make it work. Because film is so overwhelming and spans so many art forms that no one person can do it alone. This is wrong. There is more than one way to skin a cat (old proverb). In animation, with enough drive, if you want to make something happen, you can. Only time can stop you, or the lack of it.

this hits me in a personal way. ive been writing a novel series for about 20 years now, with no real progress being made until this year when i decided to complicate the project by making it an audiobook. all made by me, editing (both audio and literarily), writing, narrating, voice directing, recording, foley, and ive found it to be very very fun. HOPEFULLY ill have the "demo" of the first 3 chapters done and on bandcamp and/or kickstarter later this year. its taken me so long because i have very serious depression, and some kind of anxiety disorder that causes me to burn myself out and have to take days if not weeks off doing nothing to recharge so i can get back at it, as well as ADHD, in which case its incredibly difficult for me to do certain tasks sometimes, as well as list of unhealthy trauma based coping mechanisms that ive had to overcome on the way. i just want to get my story done, so i can move on the the next book, but its takes me so long to get any of it done its exhausting. so just to see creatives who struggle, but still push through and accomplish their vision despite everything is inspiring. so thank YOU, for the hours and days it takes you to make these videos, and thank you for choosing this artist/subject/medium, to talk about. its helped me in both my personal journey, and also in discovering more art to love

I have no idea what you have in store for the rest of this series, but if you haven't already checked out the work of Yuri Nostein and Francheska Yarbusova I highly recommend it. They're truly some of the most talented stop-motion creators of our time, and even though they don't exactly make horror content, much of their body of work takes on a similarly whimsical darkness that Blood Tea and Red Sting does. Atrocity Guide has an incredible video on them, though I expect a lot of people here maybe already know that. I can't wait to see what creators you introduce us to next!

Merchandising! Have a company make 3" figures of those white fur bird people and the black fur goat ones. Like make these licensed characters and aside from the figures the image could be put on shirts and stickers - but very limited art for the apparel. The proceeds from all these can go to fund her studio and ongoing projects. It could be used as swag during crowdfunding campaigns. And whatever. I hope someone has suggested some of these things to her if she isn't doing some kind of merch already. The other two figures I would choose are the main foxbirds from Tea, as well as the Mice in the red...Beefeater suits? They look cool and cute. So four figures to collect.
