American duo Josh Gabriel & Dave Dresden have been active in the music scene for many years already. You might know them, from tracks, such as "Without You Near", "Only Road", "This Love Kills Me", "Tracking Treasure Down", "Portobello" and of course, the beautiful "Arcadia".
For this week’s vlog I sat down with Josh & Dave, to ask them about the story behind “Arcadia” and more.

My favorite remixers - so many great ones! They killed each track in the early / mid-2000s! 1) Markus Schulz - Without you near (G&D remix) 2) Zocalo (there is also an amazing mashup of this track together with Coldpay - Fix you) 3) Jewel - Intuition (G&D remix) 4) Britney Spears - Me against the music (G&D remix) 5) Rachel Starr - Till there was you (G&D remix) Honorable mentions: As the rush comes / Around you (Motorcycle), Mindcircus (remix) & Tracking treasure down of course!

I’ve been following these guys since the early 2000s. I could listen them talk about any of their tracks or remixes. They’re responsible for some of the greatest progressive trance tracks of the day.

One thing I do like about both of these guys is that they have a great relationship as brothers. These guys shape my music throughout my life, thanks to both of you for being great producers and DJs. This was awesome to watch! Their early songs and remixes got me listening to electronic music and then during Covid, those marathon CQ live streams were one of the few things good in the world. I would fall asleep to them on work nights and wake up to Dave still going hard every night it seemed. Digga digga duh!

I really like their remix of Carrera 2 by Three Drives, a real old but gold tune. I know this is about the duo but need to mention Josh's entire album Winter Kills is insanely good.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the mashup with JASEfos - Do What You Want. The vocal fits Arcadia very well and I think it even become G&D's go to version they played live.

I love this channel a lot and thank you for your work, but seriously, Arcadia's story was the most interesting of them? 😒🫣 Their works Beautiful Things, Swing 2 Harmony and Tracking Treasure Down were much more well-known songs. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I am left with a serious feeling of missing them with this video..😞

Thank you! And well.... if you watched the full interview (or checked the video description), you would have noticed that the next interview I will post with them is about "Tracking Treasure Down" ;-) We did the interview about "Arcadia" first because next year it turns 20 and it was the very first release of their own label Organized Nature, which was very important for them (as they also mention in this interview). And "Swing To Harmony" is a track from Perasma, not from Gabriel & Dresden. They did a great remix of it, but .... I never do interviews about remixes, all my interviews are about originals ;-) Hope this clears some things up!

All good! And yeah, I only do interviews about originals since there's usually not really an interesting story behind a remix artists do for someone else; most of the time the remix requests comes in, they do the remix and that's it ;-) Doesn't mean I don't like those remixes, but story wise it is way more interesting for me to ask about originals. And often artists rather talk about their own originals instead of a remix they did for someone else ;-) And hopefully I can do an interview about "Beautiful Things" another time. There was only time for 2 interviews last month, since we did record these right before their gig at the Luminosity Beach Festival. They're not often in The Netherlands, last time was in 2018 when we recorded the "As The Rush Comes" interview. So yeah haha ;-)

16:04 In response to Dave's disappointment about DJs not heavily playing their original album tracks on Anjunabeats: I prefer them to the remixes, but part of the issue may have been their unavailability; for instance, the extended mixes of Remedy were only available in MP3 to their Kickstarter supporters. That’s in need of a WAV release.

@@-technodream- some of them are on my looooong wish list, but unfortunately I simply don’t have time / budget anytime soon for trips abroad. Muzikxpress is not a cheap hobby and unfortunately the little advertising money that comes in, all goes back into costs for gas, parking, editing software, equipment etc. But, hopefully one day! Oh BTW, already tried the KLF (I’m a huge fan!) but they don’t do interviews unfortunately:( Oh and I think you mix up CJ Bolland with Joey Beltram 😉

Yeah Josh & Dave had a a break for a few years, but they're back making music for many years already, in the last years they released 2 albums and lots of great tracks. Myon & Shane 54 indeed broke up a while ago and they're both solo now.
