Thank you for watching. I think a huge part of keeping parrots out of rescues and bad situations is education. If people enter into parrot ownership with both eyes wide open, it will help a lot. Too often pet stores and breeders fail to properly educate people - and the sweet baby cockatoo that they find at the pet store grows up. And the cycle is perpetrated. The video "Living with Parrots" is another video in this series intended to educate and remind people that a parrot is for life, and it's a huge commitment not to be entered into lightly.
Since this was done a couple years ago I don't know if you will see this or not but Max's story made me want to cry. POOR BIRD that he had to go through that. No wonder he was angry at the world!!! I don't know how you found out about his plight but I'm glad you did and were able to rescue him. I absolutely HATE people who get a pet (feathered or furry) and then treat them like garbage. THANK YOU for rescuing him!
I rescued my M2 peaches he was in 4 homes before I got him. He is 6 years old now I had him a year now. He had a hole in his chest and his rump was chewed out. His cage was small and not cleaned at all and it was falling apart. His flight feathers was gone! I took pictures of his condition and showed the vet. But now his chest is healed and feathers coming back and his rumpy and flight feathers are coming back good. I bought him a big big cage and got him toys. He is like a new bird now.
Oh my gosh ... the moment I realized "the woman" is Max's now Mama I started crying. The whole time, I was thinking what a kind-hearted person. This a wonderful story. 😊❤
Thank you, Max, for telling your story. I love watching videos of you and many other parrots, but there is no way I could adopt. I am turning 65 years old and I cannot allow a long-lived bird to bond with me, when chances are high I would die first. But I am glad there are so many good pet hoomans out there who have the youth, patience, and resources to care for birds who deserve better lives.
His story is truly very touching. Thank God for people like you who give all such birdies during a place they can call home. Lots of love to Max and his flock!
More important than providing a new home is helping educate everybirdie what life with parrots is really like. Too many people don't understand what it means to live with a parrot. If people truly understood perhaps there would be less requirement to rehome so many problem parrots. Truth is that there are no problem parrots, only problem situations.

It's an important story - so many birds are adopted by people who don't realize what they are getting into, and it also shows that there is always hope!

Many parrots share a similar story. My first people didn't set out to put me in a bad situatoin, it evolved. Lives are complex. But it's OK - I'm in a good home now, and I can share my story to help other parrots and people. There is always an opportunity to turn things around. Life is soi much bigger than a cage.

Once again just found this, My African Grey Monty I found came in UK in a Tube. Lived alone and working I decided to do something and Boy did I rescued Monty but was totally Damaged. I had him my Beautiful boy and helped to Close down the culprit and had terrible moments. But my Monty was such a Precious. But lost him. That's why RU-vid now mends my heart. Great you Girl. Poor Max, I wondered if this was his reason for the yelling and tantrums. Although we watching the videos can find it funny , it’s sad of how he became that way. So glad you could see past his behavior and gave him a chance he deserves. He is beautiful. So many people get pets with out knowing how to properly take care of them, this includes dogs cats, birds. It’s sad they do take the time to look up information first , they have a super computer in their hands everyday . They should use it to educate themselves instead of Tiktok videos. It's so sad because there are so many more who haven't been rescued. It hurts my heart to think about that! I'm happy this guy atleast had a happy ending! I hope the previous family never gets another bird again!

It's hard to make a choice, but I agree! The only problem are the roooollllzzz. So many of them. Don't chew on the chair. Uh Uh Uh - no Max. How am I supposed to get into any mischief with her watching?
It’s a plight of many animals. People don’t do their research and don’t know what they’re getting into. So many animals in shelters and rescues because people didn’t research and choose wisely a pet that would fit into their lifestyle.
People are so disappointing I seriously don't understand how people can neglect or abuse animals I could never ever give back or abandon a pet my cat literally can do whatever he wants n I would never get rid of him.
Such a pity that people who have no idea about birds can go out and just buy one! There ought to be a law that says you have to have sufficient knowledge and experience of ANY bird before you’re allowed to buy an ‘accessory!’
That's so sad when people have their own human babies they forget their bird babies...What will we feel when we are suddenly deprive of love? I have chosen to love my GW macaw forever...for this reason I'll only get married to the person who can love him equally...and I won't bring human baby to the world

Grew up with an Aunt that had parakeets 2 if I remember correctly. We had one for while when I was a pre teen. He was cool but didn’t talk as much as my Aunts bird. Must have been her attention to him. She didn’t have any kids at home. She must have spent a lot of time talking with Corky.
People do that all the time , please know what you are getting into and don’t get one if you are not willing to do the work . So don’t get a pet if you don’t have the time !
