Sadly Korea came in 4th for the Tokyo Olympics, and this was Kim Yeon Koung's last match as a national athlete as she announced her retirement from international play, so she did not get an Olympic medal BUT its undeniable she is one of the best player in women's volleyball.

@@udontknowmyname8714 Not quitting volleyball totally, but retiring as a player on Korea’s national team. BUT the most recent update (after I wrote my first comment) is that she mentioned her retirement is not confirmed at the moment, and that it is something she has to discuss with the national federation and she will make an announcement after some sort of a decision is reached. Personally I’m keeping my hopes up for her to continue representing Korea as a national player, but given so many other factors like her health and the huge pay cut she had to take, I respect her decisions in whatever she chooses! (edit) FINAL UPDATE: Kim Yeon Koung has officially announced her retirement as a national player

Awwww......I've only fallen in love with her these days. It's sad that she wasn't able to get an Olympic medal, but that doesn't really prove anything. She's still the KYK everyone admired and love for her skills and bubbly personality. I hope she still continue to post vlogs on her yt channel so we can keep up with what's happening on her life (or basically just contents to keep me sane lol)

It seems like Kim yeon Kyung tends to bends so she can meet the eye level of the other people, I hope that she takes good care of her back. She might have spine problems

As a Turkish fan of Kim Yeon Koung unni i can say that fans love her so much we even made special chant for her and we miss her so much 😢 the thing about bullying Asians in Europe may be coach's thing but I can totally guarantee that Turkey love Asians especially Koreans and support her no matter what. I wish she talked more about fans of her in Turkey

Even in Europe 192cm is too tall. Most models on European catwalks are usually between 173 and 185. Most clothing that is made for fashion shows has a similar size and 192 would be way too tall.

That's what i've thought. She is an inspiration not only in sports but on how to be a role model. She is the Captain who can be your friend but strict in her colleagues when it comes in volleyball. She is the leader who can easily make her team behave and stronger at the same time because of her didication.

They came so close in winning a medal last London 2012 Olympics, but our Women's team swept them in 3-0 sets. Japan played as a team while her team, South Korea, just depended on her, and no one team can win with just a single person doing everything to a team sport like volleyball.

I first watched this not even knowing a thing about volleyball...ok maybe like 5% but I'm watching this after knowing more and actually being interested in the sport, I find it difficult but fun to watch
