Actually there was also a price for the person who caught it. And the prince’s brother and uncle were there too. After Atalanta had captured the boar , the prince praised her. And gave her the reward.The uncle and brother were jealous. And told him that it was them who should get the reward( this was spoken at the table at dinner). The prince was furious and killed them both. It so happened that the life of the prince depended on a small piece of wood. If it burned he would die. His mother seeing this went and burned the whole piece and the prince died. Then the story is about the princess reuniting with her father. The king is not foolish really . Most kings at that time were like that.
