Everyone longs for love. So many people overlook a person because they're not handsome or pretty by societie's standards. They fail to see that these folks would love you bigger and treat you better than some of the handsome/pretty folks. Don't overlook an Orchid while looking and waiting for a Rose. This brought me to tears, in high school that was my horrid nickname. Big bad Maud. I was 5-8 and 160 pounds. I'd cry every night and think I was ugly. Well, I'm now mature and 124 pounds. I no longer cry and raised my kids never to make fun of persons looks. Thanks for the memory of my journey into self love and worth. My name is Becky not Maud.🌷🌹🌺

My grandmother was that tall and she was a very good person having 😂22 children 16 lived she had all at home and was hospitalized at age 74 and she was a worker .She was immaculate and had a starched and ironed white apron and immaculate looking at all times. 😊

This story makes me think of grandma and grandpa she was a big woman and he was small and even when he was young he had some health problems . He would be out plowing the field would make a few rounds and grandma would come get the plow and plow some mom said she would sometimes plow twice as many as he did then give him plow back and go back to the house to get her work done

My pleasure. Like I say, pretty much all of my paternal kinfolk are in North Carolina. The family farm in Walstonburg has been in my family for 200+years. It finally got sold, I hated that because a lot memories. They were tobacco farmers. I do have so many kinfolk that are spread all over NC, Tennessee, Virginia, and I’m sure there are a few up in WV., too. Blessings

Jared, when I had horses, I can remember the boys at the feed store being impressed that I could carry a sack of feed all by myself! At 5'3" though, three sacks was as big as me, so they were always kind enough to help. I'm glad that Maud found someone special. Beautiful story although I never met her my dad's mom was a big woman I remember dad telling me that she could carry a railroad tie on her shoulder and could kill rabbits with a rock I wish I could have known her she sounded like a wonderful woman but I did know her sister my aunt and I just loved her

They're stories handed down through our families so technically we can't prove they're 100 percent absolutely true but, I like recording them to keep them alive and for future generations to enjoy because stories are such a big part of our Appalachian history.
