Fun fact: The 4 gargoyles (Sindrel, Moldovaak, Hargitas, Caramain) are probably named after mountains in Romania (Cindrel, Moldoveanu, Harghita and Caraiman). As someone from Transylvania it is honestly really fun seeing so many Romanian and Hungarian names in Revendreth to keep in theme with the whole vampire aesthetic.
"Ooh, I'll splatter them across your walls!" "No not the walls! The servants only just got them cleaned!" at least his priorities mid-fighting are in place. still, gotta love Remornia's personality
Sire Denathrius has met the Light's justice, literally. He tortured Z'rali to the point that she can't even return to her own kind anymore, and now she is the one holding him captive in his own blade. But like a true Venthyr, Renathal believes he may yet be redeemed in time. I also like the dynamic between Denathrius and Remornia. It's like that of a cool but arrogant anime villain, with a crazy, bloodthirsty female sidekick who may or may not have a crush on him.
The new lore characters in this expansion are a real breath of fresh air. Not focusing so much on the main more characters that we know interacting with this new guys that feels new. Don’t get me wrong I do like things on Azeroth but it starts to get old. Just my opinion. Man it’s good to see keal’thas again.
Hey Nobbel! When I fought Denathrius on my Shadowpriest with Xal'atath transmogified, I noticed her wispering. Sadly, I couldn't quite catch it as I was distracted by the fight, and afterwards the chatlog was gone. I recall something about "fighting a cosmic (?) war older than the meddling of the titans" or something like that, but it was quite a monologue. Do you have any data or opinions on that?
Oh Big Sire D - what have you done? I love this raid so far and I actually feel engaged in the story a lot more than past raids. They've done a great job. Thanks for the video!!
The jailer will probably take the blade his soul is in. Then force him to be his sword. Fitting the guy with all the pride gets forced into servitude via being a sword lol
I got a recomanded Video from you "Kael'thas the full story" - made 5 Years ago. I had to smile thinking how you look back at this and see, ah damn, Blizz just bring him back so I have to update that one day :D
Sentient blades is like a cheap way of making something look powerful...on other objects its just weird like Talking armor, Basically Ironman and Jarvis. Also its a way to allow a swordsman to use magic, which is cooler than the idea of Wizard learning to swordfight....basically Arthas, the Magic knight and Kael'thas, the Sword mage comparison.
Revendreth's culture/history appears to be directly tied to the other (possibly all or most significant) instances of this occurring in lore. If you want to understand this better in terms of fantasy influences, check out some of Michael Moorcock's books. Dungeons & Dragons drew quite a bit from how he wrote law/chaos and other elements which became fantasy media mainstays, and Warcraft's Nathrezim lore has always been very Melnibonéan: Demons, soul consumption, ruined worlds, sentient blades, etc.
@@originalitydied8667 In Icewind Dale, there was this sentient armor thing, which was actually a demon transformed into an armor by some mage. You could even make the demon allow you to wear it, if you did things right. If you didn't, you could still wear it, at your own peril. I always thought that was cool. But ye just a straight up sentient armor without a twist like that would be kinda weird.
I am guessing Vorpalia is a reference to „ the vorpal blade“ from Alice in wonderland! It goes snicker snack and leaves the Jabberwovki dead! Not sure about the other one though
I heard it mentioned that Denathrius caused the drought, that makes me wonder... I thought the drought was just caused because no more souls were flowing to the various realms? If so, that would seem to confirm that Denathrius disabled the Arbiter. But it almost seems implied that he was actually taking the anima out of the other zones. Is this actually unclear in-game, or did I misinterpret something?
He diabled the arbiter somehow, but did not directly take the already existing anima from the other zones. On the pther hand in case of a drought like this it would be his job to keep the others suplied, which he denied claiming he has none, which was clearly a lie.
Its still unclear who disabled the Arbiter but Revendreth was siphoning Anima from all over the Shadowlands while only returning droplets of anima to keep the facade up that they are also suffering from the drought.
My favorite fights in the raid have to be the Council of Blood, Stone Legion Generals and Sire Denathrius. Council is obvious, I really like the dance mechanic and I think it's really fun, especially when the music gets louder in the background as you start to dance. Stone Legion Generals is one of those fights that sounds REALLY hard but is actually refreshingly easy, all encounters against Stone Legion Generals I've had on Normal (haven't gone to Heroic just yet) have been a one-shot. Sire Denathrius is where it gets good, I haven't played WoW very long so these are new mechanics to me and they seem unique, the fight is really fun although I'm not really a fan of the first phase the last two phases are really fun and Remornia's eerie laughter when she casts Massacre really just enforce the "you're fighting a strong opponent that barely considers you a threat" kind of vibe.
Love this, tx Nobbel! I'm totally into this raid, couldn't be more pleased that it takes place at the Venthyr area - but it's impossible to immerse yourself in the story while the whole guild is chattering on Discord and RL is explining tax... It was great to enjoy the story from beginning to end in this vid.
Remornia sound very similar to Romania ... the birthplace of the vampires. And i love the fact Blizzard did some research and added a ton of Romanian names in Revendreth, I found my own name and plenty of my firend's name scattered around random NPCs.
Thank you for this awesome video Nobbel! I've stopped playing WoW, but I'm always interested in the lore! Can't think of a better channel than yours to get all the juicy lore bits from! Also, it's lord Stavros, not Stavor xD
ok im really disappointed that kael'thas's first words aren't ""YOU!!!"" ""of all the people to save be from this pit its You, the damned creature that's responsible for putting me here""
That’s exactly what I thought when I first did the boss. I was like oh come on Kael! Don’t you remember me? The one who killed you a million times! All that torture and juicing must have given him temporary amnesia. I hope he’ll remember us better when he appears in a later patch.
I think Garrosh will be implemented into the mythic denathrius fight. Upon reading the dungeon journal, theres an additional mythic mechanic that says “only denathrius himself knows what lies beyond these mirrors” (or something like that). Would be AMAZING if we interacted with garrosh there.
Watching the Council fight when it comes to the dance phase, I'd LOVE to see an addon made that if it can detect what's next, play the Cha Cha Slide to each.
@@Especti1 yeah the dance is a fun mechanic, chain link is rough on a lot of people from what I notice, ticking damage starts to stack up and hurts, etc etc. huge dps check
My guild just got down 3 bosses on Normal on our raid nights. Yet to get to the more fun bosses, but had to accept we didn't have the DPS or maybe heals for sun king. This raid seems very tuned and everyone has to pull their weight.
@@Railer61 I'd make sure everyone's at like atleast 185 if you're having trouble, and have all enchants n consumables. Watch the guides and if it's needed play castle Pineapplia. Council and sludgefist are the biggest dps checks imo so just make sure everyone getting in their m+ for better gear
I think the reason that Garaosh didnt show up was because he couldnt be used. Pride was his biggest sin and it was probably his immense pride that prevented him from being a puppet. Kael on the other hand was full for anger, and lust for revenge. Two things that could be easily manipulated.
Your doing the gods good work by making videos like this where ppl like myself just wanna see some lore and voice acting of raids without doing them/cant do them
I think its interesting when Denathrius says the Jailer will claim what was once his. Which makes me think he used to rule all of the shadowlands before the eternal ones imprisoned him
Thranduil: hates the dwarves and the wants White Gems, but at the end has a change of heart Sire: takes all the Anima and wants to free Jailer Now we know who is the shoulder angel and shoulder devil. But in my eyes there's no difference between the two they have to be TWINS!!!!!
As always a splendid video, thanks for making Wow Lore enjoyable again! Maybe Kael’thas will step in Denathrius place and be the king he could have been.. I'd like to see Kael having some sort of redemption arc and that would be a good opportunity
Remoria: oooh. I will splatter them across your walls~~!! Sir denathrius: no not the walls. The servants only just got them clean. (Get your head out of the gutters, it not what you think.)
@@cisstudent9796 yes, remoria was my favorite sword. But what’s so funny is that she’s a psychopath. Very creepy for a sword to speak. Can’t wait for the next phase 2
Before I watch this (if anyone can reply) Does this story follow AFTER venthyr covenant campaign (which is locked behind renown)? I hope not, as thats terrible design, but I wanna be sure before I watch
Do you mean the second boss? Well, be glad that you didn't get to Sludgefist.. he is a real pain in the ass, even on normal... I am not looking forward fighting him on HC... and our guild might get there today... depens if we can kill Darkvein and the Ball Dance tonight.
@@Rakshiir Sludgefist is really a DPS check only, there are like 2-3 mechanics overall. We had 1 wipe on Sludgefist and 2nd one was with 3 pillars down killed, so it's not really a pain in the ass.
I think that the sire was not originally an eternal one. I think that possibly the story between the death pantheon mirrored much of what happened in revendreth. What if the jailer was originally the leader of the venthyr. And the sire betrayed him, for reasons still yet not known, and became the leader. That would explain the close proximity to the maw itself, And would also explain the sire looking remorseful almost at the end of his cinematic with the prince. I am on my way to work using talk to text, but I would love some dialogue on this! The jailer and the sire look so so similar as well!
i like denathrius Personaliti, he wants to kill us and take our soul into the maw (I think) but doing it in a nobel way, nice talk like a lord with a part of humor (for me at least)
Right lol. But I bet it will happen sometime later after we have rescued Thrall from the Maw and he will get to have a *not so fun* chat with his worst mistake of all time.
The best Raid of Shadowlands! The best convenant, the best area of shadowlands, the most beautiful plate set in years, the most fun time to be a fury warrior in years.
I have a question: in which order i should go castle nathria storywise? After the pact campain or between and after which part of it? Thanks guys. Please mo spoilers
Honestly, I love the raid. At least, from a design standpoint. It looks amazing. Alot of the fights are actually pretty interesting, even the Patchwork 10.0 boss is interesting for an equip check fight. And the last fight also is just great... for a first raid, I have to give props to Blizzard, there is some effort in here in my opinion. I hope they keep going like that. Not that I don't have some issues with some decisions in SL, but overall it started well enough... but I also have to admit: that raid wasn't easy on normal compared to the last like 2 raids... On a sidenote: it is great to see Nobbel lie around in alot of fights.. of course only to see the RP in all its glory I bet.
Random ass prediction because I'm bored: Last patch will be the Jailer assaulting Oribos with the Maw growing powerful enough to allow for Torghast to escape from the Maw and attack Oribos.
I think Remornia's name containing "-morn-" is a red herring (pun intended). Vorpalia and Remornia are likely just animated weapons who are created similarly to how the Stoneborn are with anima. Their own "race" of sorts.
i know im late to the party and all, but i did the lfr today because i could now. And Shriekwing was not the first Boss there...did they skip this in the Lfr and went straight to the Huntsman?
Remornia is probably just a nicer name that includes "Remorse" something very fitting for one that is supposedly tasked with removing the sins of people. So I doubt it is a mourne blade.
Plot twist... Garrosh IS the jailer, Siege of Oribos is the last raid, and it ends with him getting arrested, but then he escapes back to Azeroth where he takes over Orgrimar again, leading to a remaster of MoP for the next expac. Honestly wouldn't be that surprising since Blizz seems to be incapable of leaving it's annoying characters dead.
My bet they switched Kaelthas in, instead of Garrosh. Since they usually make videos way ahead of time they just couldn't change the video but since there was an appeal for the Kael after the Shadowlands announcement and Kael actually making much more sense in the story(since the story contains Kelthuzad) they put him in the game instead of Garrosh. This is the only way I can make sense of awkward conversations leading to fight. Kaelthas is not the most prideful soul out there neither his most used aspect is his wrath both those sentences seems tailored for Garrosh. I would even argue Kaelthas is more of a Maldraxxus kinda character but you cannot build a redemption story there so he replaces Garrosh on the redemption story they prepared.
Kael'thas wasn't a real villain. I thought they made him behave like whatever this is in this expansion, because they didn't want to admit that their characterisation of him was off since TBC. But your explaination makes sense.
LMFAO!!! I'M CALLING IT HERE AND NOW! Everyone was all like "Oh noes! Blizz is going to make Sylvanas into a Garrosh 2.0".. You fools!!! There is only one Garrosh Hellscream! And he will have his 2.0!
I've heard so many people mispronounce lord Stavros' name. It's Stav. Like in the word staves. And ros like in the word roster. (Close enough) It's definitely not pronounced "Lord Stavore". It's a name that's greek in origin and it means "cross" or "stake".
In all fairness, Denathrius's fate ended up better than whatever the jailer had in store for him if Remornia managed to escape. He probably would have drank them both like an anima slurpee. If he ever manages to get out of the sword he should thank Renathal for saving both their (after)lives.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking to. I was thinking umm Deanathrius I don’t feel like the Jailer will be too pleased with this failure and I don’t think he’ll have anything good to say or give to you. Denathrius just lost all that humongous amount of anima he had stored up. His forces were defeated he lost control of Revendreath and I think the Jailer probably still personally hates him because Denathrius was still one of the people who ultimately imprisoned him in the maw to begin with. Now that Denathrius has lost all the stuff he had I don’t think the Jailer would have any further use for him and I have no doubts about him just killing him for failing and losing all that anima that was supposed to go to him lol. So yeah I think Renathal saved his life.
