@@jamesjames6957 He said he doesn't get the "Credit" which is absolutely true. He is one of the best producer to come out of Cali. Real musician who can actually play instruments guitar, piano etc...
A couple years ago I passed by a gas station in porter ranch after work while pumping gas a red Maserati pulled up next to our car it was dj quick. We called out to him and he took the time to chop it up with us . Real down to earth . Real respectable . Real legend
Two reasons, NYC probably never booked DJ Quik or any West Coast rappers. Second reason they probably were not banging blood yet. It's not all about new york, I know that's hard to believe. Besides NYC were off brands, never were considered legitimate Bloods and crips.
😂fr..that show he did in San Antonio, Tx was legendary. Shaq was in attendance that night. San Antonio had the highest drive by percentage in the country after his show for a while.
"Acacia, Poplar, Maple, Spruce, Cedar, Elm, West Side Trees spraying all the fleas that's from the 3 and 400 block P funk ridaz" DJ Quik Dallaz + Sense
Correct 90/91. He use to hangout in St.Louis in the early 90s. I remember him walking around my neighborhood and even tried to Holla at my big cuz, she turned him down. Then he released Just lyke Compton. The Smith Center was down the street from my crib.
Im young. Born in '99 but father raised me with music from his era. DJ Quik was one of them dudes. I dressed up as DJ Quik for Halloween at High School. I didn't have Jerry Curls but the fit was basically me looking like a Piru Member 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Barely anyone does it to be cool. You sound like a white boy. Folks are born into this. Folks never see ANYTHING other than gang life from the day their eyes open. Alot of this generational unfortunately. Stop falling for what you hear in movies etc.
DJ Quik is a real person not just a real gangster and that’s the difference between a lot of ppl. A real person is just a solid person no matter what and can’t be swayed bc they know what their talking about and that they are solving issues not making issues or adding to issues
Quik,40,mac dre,$hort & suga free are the biggest influences on the new west coast sound change my mind. Dudes styles & sounds were ahead of their time even carrying influences in alot of new west coast rap music today.
Bro, this video was all of that. I consider myself an expert and huge fan of DJ Quik's music, but this video put a lot of knowledge in my head about Quik that even I didnt know.
Dollaz and cents was a bigger song as a whole but as a diss somebody not from LA wouldn't pick up on it has a diss especially being one of the earlieres main stream set tripping songs shit payed the way for niggas like x4 and jaaybo who love to diss hoods on they songs
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾 Prayers for those trying to recover from the passing of their loved ones 🕊️ Prayers out for those incarcerated and those on that path 🕊️
Yup I give quik and most the 90's dudes credit cause back then you had to deal wit everything that had to do with bein affiliated glad the brother made it through all that
Big facts as bad as things are today it doesn't compare to how turnt sh!t was back then it was a lot easier to catch dudes back then because pretty much everyone was outside in some aspect and id dudes ran into you and knew you were gang related it was gone be an issue
Im from Oceania and even his other work that isnt on the gangster rap vibe is lethal. "Tha Bomb Budd", "Tha bomb budd 2", "Me wanna rip ya girl". These joints had the islands going crazy...still do too.
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !* _Tappin' in from South Central LA_ Salute to the great rapper/producer/writer/conductor/musician/artist/engineer/curator of energy, _"Mr. DJ Q-U-I-K with no C, still you can't B me !"_
How many yall remember the penthouse playerz clique album? I still have mine too this day, Trust no Bitch playa hamm with Eazy E and Dj Quik was my banger in middle school.
DJ Quik is the greatest Producer/Rapper of all time. His mixes are always perfect. Nobody can really touch him. And btw im from the East Coast im an east coast dude but you cant deny the facts and the reality that quik is top tier.
@@California-king If you know music, you can tell by the instrumentals frequencies and how loud certain things should be. His kicks are rarely interrupted and are on point. The instruments being played are clear and doesn't sound muffled. The volume is where it should be. Dollars & Sense tackles all 3 of these.
Like what most on here are saying, Quik has been underrated for so long!!! Definitely a pioneer in the rap game let alone west coast. His production and beats speak for themselves!!!!
Respect for giving him his credit on the all eyes on me album.People don’t realize he produced 99% of that album but Dr Dre took all the credit on some Suge type shit
He might have mixed a lot or most of the songs on All Eyez On Me but he most def didn't produce many songs.. All I can think of at this moment is Heartz of Men that clearly stands out and sounds like a Quik track
@@kgizzle92 Yea I see that all the stories that the guy's tellin match perfectly the "Jus like Compton" song...lol even the locations😅😅 Denver...St-Louis...San Antonio...
Facts alas it's what comes with bein so naturally talented and gifted really at anything you have to deal with jealous envious mf's and leeches feelin like you owe them somethin and bein mad at you for being good at somethin smh
Quick and daz Dillinger are the best producer's and beat making beasts of all time. It really pisses me off thede new wack ass rappers make more money than the old school rappers. Fuck new rap these 2 deserve more respect and recognition.
They had a documentary out a little while back about them. They have worked with a few people in the industry. They need to drop with 1 - its been too long ....
Kind of mom abandons her kids in the heart of a dangerous territory? One love to Quik and I'm lucky to actually visit Compton without a scratch in 2019
I remember back in 2002 I was at summer jam in Irvine when a riot broke out. I guy behind me was dressed in all red and some crips came up telling him they should slap him because he looked like DJ Quik...which he didn't. The Crips did not like DJ Quik
